As this is the first 3D printer in our school, the students couldn't wait to get creating and printing. Each day, they look for opportunities to design on Tinkercad. Some students complete their classwork more efficiently, allowing them to spend time designing at school, while others continue exploring and creating at home. Regardless of where they are working, students are deeply engaged in the process of creating something meaningful and unique.\r\n Learning how to utilize Tinkercad has not been easy. It requires a great deal of trial and error and problem-solving. However, students have shown incredible perseverance and teamwork. They have designed their own rockets, which we were able to print, and they regularly assist one another with their designs. Each time a new rocket is printed, they are eager to see what it looks like and what elements were added. At first, many students believed 3D printing meant simply printing pre-made objects from an app. Now, seeing their own ideas come to life, they feel like real engineers.\r\n As students gain confidence with designing and printing, we are finding ways to incorporate the 3D printer into our curriculum. Students are planning to create tools/parts/competitors for our 4th grade STEM Winter Olympics. As we are finishing up our Narratives, the students are designing an item that represents the main idea of their stories. The scholars continue to come up with ways to use the printer that enhance what we are already doing. Thank you so much for this amazing donation. Your support has made a lasting impact on our students' learning and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1763598850442,"projectUrl":"project/from-imagination-to-innovation-printing/9888933/","projectTitle":"From Imagination to Innovation: Printing in the 4th Grade","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tyjer-Mendez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7129173_orig.jpg?crop=362,362,x14,y17&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1667249539692","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7129173"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81913","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":287,"numTeachers":31,"percentFrplEligible":14,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":62,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":81913,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Riverdale Public School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Riverdale Public School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/riverdale-public-school-district/riverdale-public-school/81913"}
