As the very first book and prop set arrived the children were so excited to see and use it first. They were very observant as to say, Ms. Behr you got a new book. I said \"Yes, it was donated from someone who wants you to read and tell stories in class and work together with your friends' taking turns and reading together. \"Wow, can we do it now?\" I said of course and they would go to the library and begin to read.\r\nIn the early childhood classroom students read books and enrich their vocabulary by reading books and retelling the stories with props. They gain confidence when they retell a story and for those who do not speak, it gives them a voice and also allows other students to help and retell with them, making them feel included in the group. My students get very excited about books and puppets. Little do they know how much it helps their vocabulary, social skills, taking turns and empathy towards one another who may be different. \r\nYour donations have made 12 children very happy. They now visit the library more and their vocabulary and retelling skills have improved tremendously. I cannot thank you enough.","fullyFundedDate":1730790296878,"projectUrl":"project/ms-behrs-story-telling-corner/8771694/","projectTitle":"Ms. Behr's Story Telling Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Behr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7199485_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y92&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1588303622108","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7199485"},{"teacherId":7198217,"projectId":8771683,"letterContent":"I cannot thank you enough for the materials you donated to our classroom this year! When the packages started to arrive, we unpacked them with the students. You should have seen their eyes and heard the \"oohs and ahhs\" as each new toy or book came out. We explained that each week we will bring out new materials and learn how to play with them.\r\n In the early childhood classroom, children learn through play. Materials such as toys and books are essential in the classroom environment. Materials that are missing parts or books that are ripped can be daily occurrence. As a teacher, I try to teach students to respect not only each other, but their environment and the materials we provide to help with learning.\r\n Already, the materials you have donated have helped my students learn letters, numbers, colors and shapes. We have read new books and used the story props you gave to encourage students to re-read the story during independent play. As we are working with the students, the materials you have donated have helped encourage our students to communicate not only with the adults in the classroom, but also with their peers.","fullyFundedDate":1730790274571,"projectUrl":"project/learning-language-through-play/8771683/","projectTitle":"Learning Language Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Meghan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7198217"},{"teacherId":3094408,"projectId":8382607,"letterContent":"I want to sincerely apologize for the delay in writing this thank you note. The blocks have made such a difference in our classroom. Our students absolutely love visiting the blocks center now. One of my students said to me \"Ms. Amy, now I can build a tall tall tower because we have so many blocks.\" It was such a great thing to hear. Not only are they building more, but they are also interacting with each other more as well. \r\n\r\nWhen we first opened the boxes, the students all gasped and then screamed with joy. They were happy to see that we finally have wooden blocks to fill our Blocks Center area. They excitedly began putting them away in our center and even worked together to make it look nice and organized.\r\n\r\nAt this moment I do not have a project posted but will be posting one soon as we are in dire need of items in our Dramatic Play area to enhance students' imaginative play. The plates and cups we have are breaking and the spoons and forks have been chewed on so much that we can't really see if they are forks or spoons! The play food we had is slowly disappearing so a project to help enhance our Dramatic Play will be coming soon.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your support!!!","fullyFundedDate":1715170589142,"projectUrl":"project/blocks-blocks-where-are-thou/8382607/","projectTitle":"Blocks, Blocks, Where Are Thou?","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Amy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3094408_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1523496664458","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-emmytorres"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_81584","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":647,"numTeachers":64,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":93,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.1,"schoolId":81584,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ignacio Cruz ECC on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ignacio Cruz ECC","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/perth-amboy-public-schools/ignacio-cruz-school/81584"}
