The new sensory and art resources have been wonderful additions to our creative classroom because they keep students engaged, comfortable, and confident in class. Each item has contributed to student's creativity and emotional regulation. The kinetic sand and magnetic building tiles have been fantastic creative outlets for students during brain breaks. The lightbox has increased students' creativity and confidence in drawing skills. One memorable moment was when a group combined the pin art board with the bubble fidgets to create textured impressions, then translated those patterns into abstract drawings.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' excitement was tremendous. Some students were immediately drawn to explore the pop-its, slow rising stress balls, and stringy sensory balls, while others were fascinated with the liquid motion bubblers, mesmerized by the slow, colorful movement. Several students who are usually hesitant to participate in critiques eagerly joined in, holding stress balls or squishy toys as they spoke, which helped them feel more comfortable sharing their perspectives. The books, especially A Kids Book About Imagination and The Arts: A Visual Encyclopedia, sparked curiosity and gave students a new language to describe their creative choices. Their reactions showed not only joy but relief that these tools offered them accessible ways to express themselves and manage emotions while engaging in art.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our next steps involve integrating these resources into a larger project on identity and storytelling. Students will use the magnetic tiles and kinetic sand to design symbolic structures, then pair them with drawings inspired by the Mexican social realist painters we've been studying. The sensory tools will continue to support focus and self-regulation during longer work periods, while the books will guide reflection and vocabulary building. \r\n\r\nAgain, thank you for all of the useful, amazing tools. These items benefit students and greatly improve their experience in the classroom to encourage them to express themselves through art.","fullyFundedDate":1760735742652,"projectUrl":"project/multisensory-learning-art-books-and-sen/9559882/","projectTitle":"Multisensory Learning: Art Books and Sensory Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ware","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9772071"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_134580","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":null,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":40,"percentWhite":8,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":false,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":42.9,"schoolId":134580,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ocean Academy Charter High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ocean Academy Charter High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/new-jersey-department-of-education/ocean-academy-charter-high-school/134580"}
