As students follow George's silly adventures, they practice key comprehension skills like making predictions, identifying characters, and retelling events in their own words. The stories also introduce problem-solving, cooperation, and curiosity—encouraging children to ask questions and make connections to their own experiences. These books make reading feel joyful and purposeful, and we are so grateful for the chance to build these foundational early learning skills through stories our students absolutely love.\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, the children look through books multiple times of the day and some are beginning to read on their own as we prepare to transition to kindergarten. Our children will be receiving these books to bring home. They truly love Curious George. This book discusses being \"on your way\" to new adventures, which will happen once they leave our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you once again for helping us reach our goal!","fullyFundedDate":1764612757553,"projectUrl":"project/gifting-the-magic-of-reading/9591359/","projectTitle":"Gifting the Magic of Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hollowell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4538551_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1756164046249","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4538551"},{"teacherId":4538551,"projectId":9591424,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our classroom library and enriching our Gingerbread Man study in such a meaningful way. The new books have instantly captured my preschoolers' attention and curiosity. They have been comparing stories, noticing variations in characters and endings, and making predictions about what might happen next — all skills that help build early comprehension and a love for reading.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has transformed a simple theme into a multi-layered learning experience. Through these different versions and extensions of the Gingerbread Man, children are expanding vocabulary, practicing retelling, and exploring story structure in a developmentally appropriate and engaging way. It has also sparked imaginative play, dramatic storytelling, and early writing attempts during center time as they pretend to \"bake,\" chase, and narrate their own versions of the character.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for your kindness and willingness to invest in early learning. These books go far beyond a single project — they are building confidence, joy, and foundational literacy skills that will carry forward long after our Gingerbread Man has cooled! These books have become such a meaningful part of our classroom and their learning journey.\r\n\r\nThe children's faces light up when they get to hold their very own books, turning the pages with pride and excitement. We've been using these new stories to practice early literacy skills—like identifying letters and sounds, making predictions, and retelling favorite parts. These moments help strengthen their confidence as young readers and prepare them for the next big step into kindergarten.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now feels more joyful than ever. You can find children cuddled up with their books, reading to their friends, and even pretending to be teachers as they share stories aloud. Some of my quieter students have found their voices through these books, eager to tell us what happens next or which story is their favorite.\r\n\r\nYour donations have done so much more than provide books—you've helped build a bridge of confidence, curiosity, and love for reading. We look at pictures, ask questions, and make predictions about what might happen next.
