Your contributions helped the students acquire hands on experience in gardening. Each student was able plant a plant to take home and share with their family.\r\nWhen we began the gardening project, the students realized that there were seeds for broccoli, tomatoes, carrots and such, they wanted to plant them all at the same time. Thank goodness for the seedling planters and labels. We were able to separate and label the students plants. \r\nFor most of the students, this was their first experience planting. They were extremely excited to plant their seeds. They checked the greenhouse daily to see if there was any change to their plant. Your support is truly making a difference for our preschoolers as they get ready for kindergarten this summer.\r\n\r\nWhat Our New Books Teach\r\nThe books and activities in these packs are chosen to help our young learners grow in important ways:\r\n\r\nLearning about books: Children learn how books work, like how to follow a story, and find information from pictures.\r\n\r\nBuilding a love for reading: We pick engaging stories that make reading fun and exciting.\r\n\r\nGrowing their words: Kids hear and learn new words, which helps them express themselves better.\r\n\r\nGetting ready for school skills: The packs include activities that build early literacy skills like recognizing letters, numbers, and shapes, and practicing how to hold a crayon.\r\n\r\nThinking and exploring: The books encourage children to ask questions, imagine, and learn about the world around them.\r\n\r\nReading in Our Classroom\r\nIn our classroom, reading is an active and joyful part of our day:\r\n\r\nReading together: I often read aloud to the children, bringing stories to life with different voices and expressions. We also read together as a group.\r\n\r\nChoosing their own books: We encourage children to pick books that interest them from our classroom library. This helps them feel excited about reading.\r\n\r\nPlaying with words: We do fun activities like rhyming games and identifying sounds, which are key steps to reading.\r\n\r\nTalking about stories: After reading, we talk about what happened, how the characters felt, and what we learned.\r\n\r\nMaking connections: Children learn to connect stories to their own experiences, which makes reading more meaningful.\r\n\r\nStudents Enjoying the New Books\r\nIt's been wonderful to see how excited our preschoolers are about the new books and activities:\r\n\r\nLeo, who loves playing pretend, has been captivated by the new storybooks that feature diverse characters and adventures. He often acts out parts of the stories and creates his own endings!\r\n\r\nChloe, who is very curious about how things work, loves the simple non-fiction books that explain nature or everyday objects. She'll point to pictures and ask \"Why?\" or \"How does that work?\"\r\n\r\nSam, who used to be a bit shy during story time, has started to confidently join in when we read our new rhyming books. He loves predicting the next rhyming word and giggles with delight when he gets it right.\r\n\r\nYour thoughtful contributions are helping our preschoolers bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten, fostering early literacy skills, and building a strong foundation for their lifelong learning journey. Thank you for investing in their bright futures!","fullyFundedDate":1713214678851,"projectUrl":"project/moving-up-to-kindergarten/8199928/","projectTitle":"Moving Up to Kindergarten!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McGhee","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6216967_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1599517375275","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6216967"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32466","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":327,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":73,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":24,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":"13.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":63.1,"schoolId":32466,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Augusta Preschool Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Augusta Preschool Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/irvington-public-school-district/augusta-pre-school-academy/32466"}
