They are using them to build all kinds of structures, such as robot shelters, complex mazes, and obstacle courses. A project that students enjoyed involved working in teams to build a city for our Sphero Minis. They had to think like engineers, which involved designing buildings and roads for their robots to navigate through. They were so excited when they started successfully coding their Spheros to travel through their creations. You could hear the happy chatter across the room whenever a robot made it through a maze without crashing!\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the new materials they were overjoyed and excited! The moment they saw the Magna-Tiles, students literally gasped and started asking, \"Can we use them today?!\" Many students were already familiar with Magna-Titles, but once they understood their task of combining them with robots and coding, their ideas started pouring out. It's been amazing to watch them take something familiar and reimagine it as a tool for problem-solving and creativity.\r\n\r\nOur next step involves creating obstacle courses where students will not only build with Magna-Tiles but also program their Spheros to complete challenges. They'll be using block-based coding to control speed, turns, and lights and sounds. The goal is for students to start thinking like coders and engineers through testing, troubleshooting, and collaboratively improving both their designs and their code and then ultimately students will present their creations and explain their design process to their peers. It's going to be an exciting blend of creativity as well as critical thinking!","fullyFundedDate":1740490251224,"projectUrl":"project/building-bright-minds-sparking-stem-cre/9114145/","projectTitle":"Building Bright Minds: Sparking STEM Creativity with Magna-Tiles!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DaSilva","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ndasilva"},{"teacherId":8684475,"projectId":8729478,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to support our occupational therapy program.
