My students are using the new resources every day to support self-regulation, sensory needs, and breaks throughout our classroom routine. The sensory materials provide my students with a safe and appropriate way to take a break when they are feeling overwhelmed or need additional sensory input before returning to learning. When my students first saw the new materials in our classroom, I could immediately tell that they were excited and curious because many of the items were new to them. They were eager to explore the different materials and quickly began finding their favorites. These resources have become an essential part of our everyday classroom routine and help create a supportive environment where each student's individual needs can be met.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue teaching students how to use these sensory resources purposefully and appropriately. We are working on helping students recognize when they need a break, choose a sensory tool that supports their needs, and then transition back to their classroom activities when they are ready. As my students become more familiar with the materials, we hope to build greater independence with self-regulation and classroom routines. They have created new opportunities for hands-on exploration, collaboration, and active participation.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials have been instrumental in helping students build essential skills—especially play skills, an area where many of our students experience difficulty. Through guided and independent play, students are learning how to interact with peers, take turns, problem-solve, and communicate more effectively.
