The students brought their discussions right into sensory box play. They made soups with the rice, the gems and the scoops. They shared and traded items for gifts for each other. A few sat and buried their hands into the rice, letting it fall through their fingers slowly and quietly. \r\nThey find their groove, quiet/meditative, silly, inventive each time that they explore.\r\nThank you again for your additions to our play based classroom, encouraging exploration and play.","fullyFundedDate":1756296136397,"projectUrl":"project/sensational-sensory-boxes/9522144/","projectTitle":"Sensational Sensory Boxes!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Young","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9371925"},{"teacherId":8423571,"projectId":9249457,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been filled with new books that have truly transformed the way my students read, think, and connect with stories.\r\n\r\nThese texts allow us to practice important reading skills such as making inferences, identifying character traits, comparing themes across different stories, and exploring new vocabulary in context. The variety of genres: graphic novels, realistic fiction, mysteries, and nonfiction, gives students the chance to strengthen both comprehension and critical thinking in ways that feel engaging and exciting.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is vibrant and interactive. You'll see students reading independently in cozy spots around the room, discussing story elements with partners, and gathering in small groups to share predictions, questions, and connections. We also do read-alouds where students stop to reflect, jot ideas, or turn and talk with peers. All this helping them become not only stronger readers, but also thoughtful listeners and speakers.\r\n\r\nThree students who were once hesitant to pick up a book are now eager readers. One student who used to avoid independent reading time now races to grab the newest graphic novel, proudly sharing it with classmates. Another has found a favorite series and beams with confidence when she finishes a book on her own. These joyful moments show the powerful impact your support has made.\r\n\r\nYour gift has created a reading community where students feel excited, confident, and connected through books.
