The moment the boxes were opened, students were visibly excited, eagerly reaching for engaging texts they couldn't wait to explore. These books offer something for every reader, whether they are just beginning their journey or are already reading more advanced stories. Having access to books at the right level allows each child to feel successful and confident as they grow as readers.\r\n\r\nWhat has been especially powerful is seeing students connect with characters they enjoy and return to familiar stories through the new book series we received. The series books, in particular, have motivated students to keep reading, book after book, and share their favorites with their classmates. This enthusiasm is helping to foster a love of reading that I know will stay with them far beyond this school year. Your support has truly put the joy of reading into my students' hands, and we are deeply grateful for the lasting impact you've made.","fullyFundedDate":1744296779456,"projectUrl":"project/new-books-new-worlds-for-students/9243909/","projectTitle":"New Books, New Worlds for Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McPherson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9993409_orig.jpg?crop=1141,1141,x0,y129&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744073665293","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9993409"},{"teacherId":9851844,"projectId":8981616,"letterContent":"On behalf of the 5th Grade teachers and students at our school, we want to express our gratitude for the book donations you have made to our classes. \r\nThis year, we have been implementing a new language arts curriculum, and as a result, we were in need of new books that would better meet the needs of the students with this program. We also were in need of new, and more current, quality reading selections for both fiction and non-fiction reading to add to our 5th grade library. \r\nIn addition to using the books for our language arts program, students in our RTI groups benefit from a better selection of titles, and our students love to select books from our class libraries for silent reading time. A couple of the selections have been used for class read aloud time as well. We took not only the language arts program into account but also student interest and favorite authors of popular current novels when choosing books for this project. \r\nThank you, again, for your generosity and for helping us give our students more quality reading opportunities.","fullyFundedDate":1735335022482,"projectUrl":"project/5th-grade-literacy-leap/8981616/","projectTitle":"5th Grade Literacy Leap","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Zink","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9851844"},{"teacherId":9779635,"projectId":8827421,"letterContent":"Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. Your donation has had a tremendous impact on my students. They were so excited and couldn't wait to read the new book titles I was able to add to our classroom library. The enthusiasm and chatter with each other over all the latest titles brought me such pleasure. \r\n\r\nGraphic novels are a favorite of my students. Providing them with many choices and graphic novel series has been a game-changer. The Babysitter Club series has been a go-to. The students find a quiet spot to read them with friends or themselves. Graphic novels also help my students who feel overwhelmed by chapter books. \r\n\r\nMy students' excitement for independent reading time has grown. They look forward to it! One of my students brought up three different book titles and said, \"I don't know which one to read first. I love them all!\" Another group of my reluctant readers who tend to \"bookshop\" or begin reading a book but never get through the first few chapters are obsessed with the new Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. They sit together and read them. I will overhear them talking about what is happening in the book and the others will chime in with \"I read that one!\", \"In the one I am reading...\", \"Oh! I can't wait to read that one!\" Building reading into their lives is one of the most important things we can do to make lifelong readers. Some of my boys have started writing their own story based on The Diary of Wimpy Kid, titled \"Diary of a Cool Kid\"!\r\n \r\nThe new \"Who Was... ?\" series of books has enhanced our classroom library and brought high-interest people to learn about. We have begun our second nonfiction unit and one of the focuses is on biographies. The children love reading the books in this series and cannot wait to share what they learned with their classmates. \r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for helping me bring life back to my classroom library. My students cannot wait for independent reading time and are bringing home books to read!
