The students immediatly loved the new gathering space. Having bigger places for them to sit during large group activities has helped them keep their bodies to themselves. They have the space to move and a better visual of their space. My students were totally enthralled with the new materials that brought a spark to the end of the year. \r\n In particular, the play vending machine was a big hit with all including teachers. The students were interacting more as they asked others what they would like for a snack and even brought the dolls into the action as they got them treats from the vending machine.\r\n The students also really enjoyed the nature camera that we put into the science center as it gave students a chance to see some nature items that they would not get to see in our area. \r\n Number blocks are always a big hit with this age group and my students enjoyed building their math skills while getting to use the Number blocks figures and memory match game. \r\n Bringing out the creativity of the students was the marble run that they absolutely loved playing with. They were able to build different runs and see how their creations worked. That's what the Handwriting Without Tears curriculum provides. \r\n\r\nIn the photos, you can see the students gathered around a magnetic board learning about the different shapes to create a character called \"Mat Man\". Everything we use to create Mat Man, we use to create the letters of the alphabet. You can see how involved the children are. They are excited to learn, and they are very engaged in the activity. \r\n\r\nThe Handwriting Without Tears curriculum is an invaluable tool to my classroom. These are the students' very first steps to learning how to write and create letters, and this curriculum is the perfect way to get them headed in the right direction to meeting the state standards for their learning goals.
