My students have been especially excited about the new books, including Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan and the Dog Man series by Dav Pilkey. These high-interest books have motivated even my reluctant readers to pick up a book and stay engaged during independent reading time. I've seen students eagerly discussing characters, recommending titles to one another, and building their stamina and confidence as readers. Providing access to books they truly enjoy has helped create a stronger reading culture in our classroom and has supported their growth in comprehension and fluency.\r\n\r\nBeyond literacy, the donated supplies have also improved our daily classroom experience. My students love using their new crayons to add creativity and color to their assignments, projects, and interactive notebooks. It has been heartwarming to see how something as simple as fresh crayons can spark joy and pride in their work. The tissues have been especially helpful as allergy season has picked up, ensuring students can stay comfortable and focused on learning. Even the Febreze has made a difference—students often comment on how nice the room smells when they return from lunch, helping reset the tone for a calm and welcoming afternoon environment. These thoughtful donations have truly enhanced both the academic and emotional atmosphere of our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1768670098284,"projectUrl":"project/partner-reading-and-classroom-essentials/10024348/","projectTitle":"Partner Reading and Classroom Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Howard","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8234289_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1643562107810","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mshoward2ndgrade"},{"teacherId":9282991,"projectId":10025227,"letterContent":"Nutrition education supplies and our new neurodivergent-friendly furniture have made an incredible impact in our classroom. The nutrition materials have been a huge hit with my students. They've loved exploring hands-on activities like reading food labels, planning balanced meals, and discussing how different foods fuel their bodies and minds.\r\n\r\nAt the same time, the neurodivergent furniture has truly transformed our learning environment. Having flexible seating and sensory-friendly options has allowed students to find spaces where they feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nTogether, these resources have supported both the physical well-being and the individual learning needs of my students. Thank you. Most classes that I teach is computer driven and often require headsets as my students are usually on different academic lessons and progress levels. This tool provides a means to work independently and the ability to remain focus during their learning experiences.\r\n\r\nI like the option of having wireless headsets as an alternate option to my USB connection. Technology has opened doors to assist students and adult user in higher learning to get more from available resources in today's society.\r\n\r\nI took a survey of the new items that we received, and the results were favorable for getting the new equipment to replace the old worn headsets. Some responses were that they can hear the training videos much clearer. Others were how they fold up into a compact version for storage. Even though the headsets are not noise cancelling, I was also told that the sounds are minimal with the new sets and that allows them to focus on their assignments better. \r\n\r\nWe are grateful and appreciate all your help donors. Some of the simplest things have brought excitement and a sense of pride to my young learners.\r\nThe new pre-sharpened pencils save me a lot of time and mess! The students are thrilled to get to use the pencil dispenser and see what color they receive. We play word bingo to practice our spelling lists, and the winners can now choose to pick a new pencil as a prize. This has been a huge motivator!\r\nWriting practice is not always a joy for my students, as it sometimes becomes tedious and it is not a favorite activity for some. As my aide and I walk around the room, we are now able to place a \"smelly smile\" on their papers with the new Mr. Sketch Scented Markers. Again, such a small thing makes them try even harder and stay engaged. When the papers go home, their parents can see their great work and show their support as well.\r\nWe recently celebrated our 100th day of school. We were all delighted to have 12 different paint colors to make 10 sets of colored dots! As an extension to our unit on Native Americans, we were able to create a colorful bulletin board of Native American regional homes and art using our craft supplies.\r\nThese are just a few examples of how your generosity has helped to spark imagination, pride, and wonder in my students. Thank you again for your kindness, it is truly helping me to inspire my kindergarten students.","fullyFundedDate":1768677165070,"projectUrl":"project/help-me-make-my-kindergarteners-love-sch/10024457/","projectTitle":"Help Me Make My Kindergarteners Love School!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kubala","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404953"},{"teacherId":10269745,"projectId":9730406,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for choosing to support my Physics Library of Wonder project. Because of your generosity, my students now have access to engaging, curiosity-driven science books that are transforming how they experience physics. These books have quickly become a favorite part of our classroom, sparking questions, discussions, and a genuine excitement for learning that is a joy to witness.\r\nMany of my students struggle to see themselves as \"science people,\" but these books are changing that narrative. The accessible language, real-world connections, and sense of wonder built into each text are keeping students interested and motivated to read—often far beyond the required class time. Students who were once hesitant readers are now eager to explore topics like motion, energy, waves, and the universe, building both their science understanding and reading confidence.\r\nYour support has made a lasting impact on my classroom and my students' relationship with science. The compact size of the mouse and cool colors were a hit for the use of the kindergarten to 2nd graders.\r\n\r\nSadly the impact did not have longevity due to the quality of the headphones. After two months of usage they started to break. I decided to repurpose them and cut the cords off to provide them to my students with noise sensitivity for them to use while in noisy school activities and when taking tests at school. \r\n\r\nThe biggest challenge with the headphones were that the earphone cushions kept coming off and they were not able to be secured back onto the head phones.","fullyFundedDate":1699493926468,"projectUrl":"project/cool-computer-lab/7995836/","projectTitle":"Cool Computer Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Conwell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7577337_orig.png?crop=322,322,x0,y64&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1601329440763","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mzconwellsgals"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_108650","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1215,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":27,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"60.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":67.9,"schoolId":108650,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Founders Academy Las Vegas on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Founders Academy Las Vegas","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nevada/nevada-department-of-education/founders-academy-of-las-vegas/108650"}
