Your contribution has made a meaningful and immediate impact on our daily learning environment.\r\n\r\nWith a classroom of 30 students, integrating technology effectively can be a challenge, but the headphones have made this transition seamless. My students use a program called E-Spark, which is designed to meet each learner at their individual level and target the specific skills they need to succeed in 4th grade. Because of your support, every student can engage fully with the program without distractions, allowing them to focus, stay motivated, and make real academic progress.\r\n\r\nIn addition to the headphones, the colored paper, Expo markers, and pencil sharpener have helped our classroom run more efficiently. These everyday tools may seem small, but they eliminate interruptions and reduce time spent on routine tasks. This allows us to stay focused on what matters most—learning.\r\n\r\nAs a result, my students are more engaged, more independent, and more confident in their abilities. They are able to concentrate on growing both academically and personally, and that is truly invaluable.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and helping create a classroom environment where they can thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1768642636123,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-highlighters-and-a-pencil-s/10023530/","projectTitle":"Headphones, Highlighters, and a Pencil Sharpener That Actually Works!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cook","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10404775"},{"teacherId":9116431,"projectId":10031331,"letterContent":"My students were immediately curious and engaged when they first saw the materials. Being able to share with my students the wonderful plant life that grows in Las Vegas Nevada as well as how they can use recycled items to create replicas of the plant life in Las Vegas captured two goals. To do so, students researched, drew and constructed 3D versions of Las Vegas plant life. \r\n\r\nThe steps included writing a research paper about their plant and included a bibliography and real-life plant picture. They also completed 2 drawings of the plant structure, a scientifically correct drawing and a drawing in their own style representing the art styles of realism, abstract, and impressionism. The pictures shared show the impact of creativity the students presented with their 3D plants.\r\n\r\nIn doing so they became more aware of the variety of plant life in Las Vegas Nevada, a state which people assume that nothing beautiful and healthy can grow. Students were thrilled to hear they would be able to work with this material for the first time in school and for an entire unit. We began by a comparative discussion on Play-Doh with the material we usually use in school: terra cotta. They were able to realize that although many great and enduring works of art began with terra cotta clay, the benefits for our students in working numerous design works in Play-Doh would be great learning opportunities, as well as very personally enjoyable. \r\n\r\nIn this clay unit, we briefly explored the cultural history of ceramics on several continents, handmade pottery, classical Greek vases, and discussed the significance and ceramic process behind Degas' \"Little Dancer\" or Rodin's \"The Thinker.\" Since both master artworks, and many other great works, needed a clay base, students were inspired to begin to explore the amazing design capabilities of Play-Doh. Our application was to use a variety of tools to fulfill a list of over 10 creative objectives in making pinch and coil \"pots,\" a variety of 3D animals, buildings, food, and engineering-based designs, etc. \r\n\r\nOf the hundreds of masterpieces created these past weeks, some of the most notable were the Artemis II, the Eiffel Tower, a bicycle on a road, a crying wolf, someone wearing a beret, and various landscapes. They also made the U.S. Capitol building, butterflies, sea-life, a tiny tea set, delicious foods and desserts, our school logo, and an astronaut tethered to his ship! I'm so grateful our students were able to see themselves as designers, chefs, architects, artists, inventors, and engineers! They really are amazing designers! When the supplies first began arriving, my students were genuinely surprised and excited. There was a buzz of curiosity as they unpacked each item, eager to see how we would use them. One of the first things they noticed changing was the newly organized bookshelf. It was organized into baskets of books with common topics, such as animals, sports, or the Age of Exploration. The baskets make it easy to find and later replace books while keeping the library organized. Since then, students have found it much easier to locate books that interest them, and as a result, they have been reading more frequently and with greater enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nWe have already begun using the new resources in meaningful ways. The LCD writing boards have quickly become a favorite tool in our classroom. My students have been especially excited about the new books, including Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan and the Dog Man series by Dav Pilkey. These high-interest books have motivated even my reluctant readers to pick up a book and stay engaged during independent reading time. I've seen students eagerly discussing characters, recommending titles to one another, and building their stamina and confidence as readers. Providing access to books they truly enjoy has helped create a stronger reading culture in our classroom and has supported their growth in comprehension and fluency.\r\n\r\nBeyond literacy, the donated supplies have also improved our daily classroom experience. My students love using their new crayons to add creativity and color to their assignments, projects, and interactive notebooks. It has been heartwarming to see how something as simple as fresh crayons can spark joy and pride in their work. The tissues have been especially helpful as allergy season has picked up, ensuring students can stay comfortable and focused on learning.
