Because of your generosity, our students now have the tools they need to explore, design, build, and problem-solve in meaningful and exciting ways.\r\n\r\nMany of our donors use technology at home, but technology in the classroom looks a little different. In our makerspace, the 3D pens and 3D printer are not just \"fun gadgets.\" They are powerful learning tools. Students must plan, sketch, measure, test, revise, and troubleshoot their designs. They quickly learn that if something doesn't print correctly, they need to figure out why and adjust their design. This process strengthens critical thinking, perseverance, and real-world problem-solving skills. They are also building spatial awareness, basic engineering concepts, and creativity in ways that a worksheet simply cannot provide.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most about the new technology is seeing their ideas come to life. Watching a 3D printer slowly build a creation layer by layer feels almost magical to them. With 3D pens, they can immediately transform a flat drawing into a three-dimensional object. The excitement in the room when a project successfully prints is incredible. It has sparked curiosity and inspired students to think bigger and try more complex designs.\r\n\r\nBeyond 3D printing, students are painting, building with LEGOs, solving puzzles, and creating origami designs. These hands-on opportunities give every learner a chance to shine. I have seen particular students—especially those who may not always feel successful in traditional academic settings—truly come alive in the makerspace. Some quieter students have become leaders when explaining how the printer works. Others who struggle with written assignments show remarkable patience and precision when constructing detailed models. Their confidence has grown as they realize they are capable creators and problem-solvers.\r\n\r\nYour support has made a direct and lasting impact on our junior high students. You have helped create a space where creativity thrives, critical thinking is strengthened, and students are excited to learn. Thank you for investing in their growth and for believing in the power of hands-on, innovative learning.","fullyFundedDate":1768101644884,"projectUrl":"project/fueling-creativity-critical-thinking-i/9989427/","projectTitle":"Fueling Creativity & Critical Thinking in Our Junior High Makerspace","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thompson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8146020"},{"teacherId":2646331,"projectId":5963286,"letterContent":"Our students participate in a daily reading program with a volunteer reader who donates her time to work with our students in a secure facility.
