From the moment they arrived, the excitement was contagious. My students immediately wanted to explore, build, test ideas, and work together. It has been amazing to watch their creativity and problem-solving skills come to life through hands-on learning.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was during a classroom building challenge where students worked in teams to create the tallest structure they could using the materials from the STEM bins. They were cheering each other on, testing different ideas, and learning from mistakes without even realizing how much critical thinking they were practicing. Some students who are usually quieter in class became leaders during these activities, which was incredible to see.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were beyond excited. They could not wait to open the bins and start experimenting. Many of them immediately began talking about inventions they wanted to create and challenges they hoped we could try in the future. The STEM bins have quickly become one of the most requested activities in our classroom.\r\n\r\nAs we continue using these resources, students will be working on more collaborative STEM challenges connected to problem-solving, creativity, and real-world thinking skills. We are excited to incorporate engineering activities, design challenges, and teamwork projects that encourage students to think outside the box. Thank you for giving my students opportunities to explore, create, and learn in such meaningful and engaging ways!","fullyFundedDate":1769119456250,"projectUrl":"project/stem-bins-for-stem-kids/9977221/","projectTitle":"STEM Bins for STEM Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kerkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9565749_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779730845569","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/miss-kerkman"},{"teacherId":9565749,"projectId":9375173,"letterContent":"We have been using the new aprons and safety goggles during our hands on science experiments, and they have already made a big impact in our classroom. One of our first activities using them was a simple chemistry investigation where students observed reactions and recorded changes. Putting on their aprons and goggles helped students shift into a \"scientist mindset\" and take the experiment seriously while still having fun. The materials also allowed us to focus on safety expectations and proper lab procedures, which is such an important part of learning science.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the aprons and goggles, their excitement was immediate. Many of them commented on how \"real\" they felt and how much they looked like actual scientists. Several students asked when we could start experimenting right away, and others proudly helped pass out the materials to their classmates. The gear helped build confidence, especially for students who are sometimes hesitant, because they felt prepared and protected.\r\n\r\nThanks to these resources, we are now able to move into more complex investigations with confidence. Our next steps include hands on experiments involving mixtures, solutions, and physical changes, where students will plan procedures, make predictions, and analyze results. Your support has helped create a safe, engaging learning environment where students feel empowered to explore, ask questions, and grow as young scientists. We are incredibly thankful for the role you've played in making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1757516773317,"projectUrl":"project/safe-scientists/9375173/","projectTitle":"Safe Scientists","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kerkman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9565749_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1779730845569","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/miss-kerkman"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_79508","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":580,"numTeachers":33,"percentFrplEligible":26,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":79508,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ashland-Greenwood Intermediate School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ashland-Greenwood Intermediate School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/nebraska/ashland-greenwood-school-district-1/ashland-greenwood-elementary-school/79508"}
