When the older students saw the upper and lower additions to our current sets, they became excited and asked if they could please do a unit on them as well. I did allow the 4th graders to do theirs first. They created sound stories, music compositions written by themselves, and play along videos and presented them to the lower grades. This also created enthusiasm in the lower grades. Next year I plan to have a unit where the older students instruct the younger ones.","fullyFundedDate":1727120965115,"projectUrl":"project/creating-with-boomwhackers/8814847/","projectTitle":"Creating With Boomwhackers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harrell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9758165"},{"teacherId":8830214,"projectId":8850085,"letterContent":"My neurodivergent students love hands on learning. With your help I was able to purchase 3 coding board games, Gears, Gears, Gears! Building blocks, Magnetic tiles, protractors with swinging arms, a magnetic grid whiteboard, a magnetic oversized protractor, kinetic sand, and clothes pins. My students get so excited to see the coding board games come out; I am excited because they are honing their critical thinking skills and problem solving skills. I have watched them flourish as they apply those skills to learning new concepts. The sand is used to make letters in a 3-dimentsional shape, resulting in the students thinking about how the letter is shaped and what their next step is. As the year progresses my older students will be utilizing the magnetic grid and the magnetic protractor to expand on their current knowledge of geometry. The clothes pins are used to engage students in letter and number identification, tracking numbers on the number line. Having the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning helps make my classroom more inviting and creates excitement in my students. I can't be more thrilled to be able to use all of these wonderful tools to encourage my students and their learning!","fullyFundedDate":1732636760565,"projectUrl":"project/coding-and-manipulative-aid-critical-thi/8850085/","projectTitle":"Coding and Manipulative Aid Critical Thinking and Problem Solving Skills","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Esplin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8830214_orig.jpg?crop=1530,1530,x0,y270&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727817258344","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8830214"},{"teacherId":9717786,"projectId":8721298,"letterContent":"My students were excited to see the new PE materials that I purchased through Donors Choose. Some of the items I purchased made it possible for each student to have their own item, rather than having to share or wait until something was available. This keeps them moving, which is the goal.\r\n\r\nThank you for your support of my Moving With Math project. Your thoughtful gift has truly made a significant impact on our students' learning and reading fluency. We have already had the pleasure of using the scripts, and the students have thoroughly enjoyed bringing the stories to life through performance. The scripts have not only enhanced their reading skills but have also sparked their enthusiasm for reading, collaboration, and public speaking.\r\n\r\nThe students have had the opportunity to perform for various age groups, and it has been wonderful to see them grow in confidence and pride as they share their hard work with others. We are incredibly grateful for your support, and I'm excited to share how these items are already making a difference. The whiteboard easel was immediately put to use during a recent guest speaker event. It was the perfect tool to help engage our students and facilitate the discussion, and we've received wonderful feedback on how helpful it was for visualizing key points.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the soothing tools have been a great asset in supporting our students' well-being. I have already distributed them to those who will benefit most, and it's been rewarding to see the positive impact they're having.
