This is my first year teaching this course and I really needed a copy of this novel for each student in my class. I wanted to find something that was authentic and culturally rich for my students to read in Spanish. So far the students seem to really be enjoying the book.\r\n\r\nThe book is a series of vignettes about the life of a young Mexican American girl growing up in Chicago. It is written as a memoire and the chapters are short. This is the perfect structure for my Spanish students to feel challenged yet not overwhelmed. I am very grateful for the generous gift that will keep on giving for years to come.\r\n\r\nWe have been reading, drawing, writing, analyzing and speaking about this novel in Spanish. I will send some photos of some of our works so far. Our final project will be creating a map of her neighborhood and writing about the characters. Thanks again.","fullyFundedDate":1727704266170,"projectUrl":"project/capture-interest-in-the-richness-of-hisp/8839080/","projectTitle":"Capture Interest in the Richness of Hispanic American culture.","teacherDisplayName":"Prof. Hunter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9783669"},{"teacherId":9754078,"projectId":8793415,"letterContent":"My art students are enjoying their new sketchbooks. They started the semester with designing the cover of their sketchbooks in any way they wished. You can see photo example attached. \r\n\r\nNext, they used their sketchbooks for our first project from the beginning to the very end. They started by practicing Zentangle techniques in pen, graphite, watercolor, and color pencil. The paper in the sketchbooks is high quality and takes a diverse set of media. Students are loving the quality of the sketchbooks! \r\n\r\nAfter students practiced different Zentangle techniques, they planned what they would do for their final Zentangle drawing. Sketchbooks provide a great place for students to plan out their idea, sketch the composition, and get a sense of what they want their final art piece to look like. I have attached photos of this process. \r\n\r\nLastly, after the Zentangle projects were completed, students took time to reflect on their Zentangle pieces by writing about their process in their sketchbooks. You can read their reflections in the photos I have attached. \r\n\r\nThroughout this semester, students will continue the process of practicing art techniques, planning out projects, and reflecting in writing about their project. \r\nThank you for funding this project to make art making and the process more meaningful for my art students.","fullyFundedDate":1727455560975,"projectUrl":"project/art-project-planning-and-reflection/8793415/","projectTitle":"Art Project Planning and Reflection","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kniveton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9754078_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x772,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727454969543","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9754078"},{"teacherId":9799596,"projectId":8869310,"letterContent":"I'm excited to share the incredible impact your donation has had on my students. With the new compasses and protractors, my students have been able to create much more accurate and precise constructions in our geometry lessons. One of the standout moments came when we worked on a project where students had to draw and label various geometric shapes. The excitement in the room was contagious as they were finally able to create constructions with ease and precision using the new compasses, which are so much easier to use than the old ones. They could focus more on the math and less on the frustration of inaccurate drawings, which helped boost their confidence and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nNow that we've completed a chapter with a focus on geometric constructions, the students' skills have significantly improved. They're now using their new tools to tackle more advanced tasks, such as constructing bisectors and understanding geometric proofs. The next step in our learning journey will involve applying these skills to real-world problems, where students will use their constructions to solve practical challenges. I can already see how the new materials have empowered my students, and I'm eager to continue seeing their growth and success in the classroom.
