The materials you funded allowed my students to experience, in a safe and thoughtful way, what life feels like at different stages of development. From exploring the frustrations of toddlerhood to learning about the physical challenges many older adults face, students are gaining empathy, perspective, and respect for people whose abilities and experiences differ from their own. The books we received are also being shared with younger students, helping them learn about emotions, friendships, and differences through age-appropriate storytelling.\r\n\r\nWe recently completed our \"toddler experience\" activities, and they were eye-opening. Students tried everyday tasks using their non-dominant hands (and sometimes their feet), cut shapes while looking only in a mirror, strung beads with limited dexterity, and played catch with restricted arm movement. They quickly realized how easily frustration can build when your body will not cooperate. Several students said they now understand why toddlers sometimes cry, get cranky, or give up. What began with laughter soon turned into thoughtful reflection about patience, growth, and the importance of encouragement.\r\n\r\nYour support made these powerful lessons possible. Because of you, my students are not just reading about human development. They are feeling it, discussing it, and connecting it to real life. As we continue through the lifespan journey, including learning about adolescence and aging, your contribution will keep shaping meaningful conversations and helping students build empathy that extends beyond the classroom. Thank you for believing in experiential learning and for investing in our students' hearts as well as their minds.","fullyFundedDate":1758850680930,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-for-human-development/9600337/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Learning for Human Development: A Lifespan Journey","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4090392_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y134&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1672787761552","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4090392"},{"teacherId":8500049,"projectId":8681400,"letterContent":"I would like to sincerely thank you for your generous support of my DonorsChoose project, \" Christmas Time Philanthropy, Creativity, and a Classic to Boot!\" Because of you, my students had the opportunity to experience Charles Dickens' timeless story in a much deeper and more meaningful way.\r\n\r\nYour donation has provided us with the materials we needed to read, discuss, and connect with the themes of kindness, compassion, and redemption. As we worked through the text together, students made powerful connections between Scrooge's transformation and the importance of generosity in their own lives. Several of them shared that this was their first time engaging with a classic novel, and they were excited to discover that a story written over 150 years ago could still feel so relevant today.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, this lesson became more than just an English assignment—it was an experience that sparked thoughtful conversations, inspired creativity, and encouraged my students to reflect on what it means to give and to grow.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of myself and my students, thank you again for believing in our classroom and helping us bring literature to life.","fullyFundedDate":1724431950044,"projectUrl":"project/christmas-time-philanthropy-creativity/8681400/","projectTitle":"Christmas Time Philanthropy, Creativity, and a Classic to Boot!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Settlemire","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8500049"},{"teacherId":9698632,"projectId":8849078,"letterContent":"Thank you for the opportunity to share technology with my students. We are in the process of picking it back up soon so we can master making those light airy shells. They also learned about baking bread and used the lab experiments in the books to learn about how different flours behave in baking and why they work. \r\n\r\nThis project is not finished by any means because there is so much more to learn this year but we just wanted to check in and say thanks for supporting us and giving us the opportunity to make our class so much more interesting.","fullyFundedDate":1731549177200,"projectUrl":"project/the-science-behind-baking/8596181/","projectTitle":"The Science Behind Baking","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hanson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4090392_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y134&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1672787761552","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4090392"},{"teacherId":9698632,"projectId":8690519,"letterContent":"Thank you for the opportunity to share technology with my students.
