Because of you, our students now have access to high-interest magazines and a variety of fidget tools that have transformed our daily learning environment.\r\n\r\nMany of you are avid readers yourselves, but you might be surprised by how much \"heavy lifting\" these magazines do in a classroom. Unlike a standard textbook, these texts introduce:\r\nInformational Text Navigation: Students are learning how to use captions, sidebars, and infographics to gather data—a crucial 21st-century skill.\r\nCritical Analysis: We use these current articles to practice identifying a writer's bias and distinguishing between fact and opinion.\r\nVocabulary Expansion: These magazines introduce specialized terminology in a way that feels accessible rather than intimidating.\r\n\r\nThere is one group of students in particular who have blossomed with these new materials. I have several \"reluctant readers\" who used to find thick novels overwhelming. Seeing a colorful magazine with shorter, punchy articles made them feel like they could succeed. One student, who previously avoided reading aloud, recently sprinted to my desk to share a \"Did you know?\" fact from a science article. That spark of curiosity is exactly what your donation ignited.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and for providing the tools my students need to thrive.","fullyFundedDate":1767121588696,"projectUrl":"project/news-from-around-the-world/9532200/","projectTitle":"News From Around the World!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Graham","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5802890_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1535591619944","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5802890"},{"teacherId":9708452,"projectId":9591380,"letterContent":"Words are difficult to express how thankful my students are for your generosity. Today, one of my students sat on the bean bag chair and read a decodable to the puppy. What a precious moment. \r\n The noise cancelling headphones have been a blessing. In my classroom, various groups are being taught at the same time. Partitions help with distractions, but with active students, the headphones have enabled the students to focus and concentrate on instruction. \r\n The next steps for my classroom and students is for them to continue to access and utilize the sensory area where they can continue to explore, take a break when needed, and feel that this area is safe place for them to continue to learn and grow.
