My students now have a comfortable place to learn and explore. My students were so excited to walk in and see the new rug. The students were overjoyed last year to receive the books. They were challenged to read 40 books and most of them accomplished it. Chess club has been an enormous hit. We hold chess club every Wednesday and I actually have more kids who want to participate than boards. I also have a group of students that have been researching the game of chess so they can gather more skills to become better players. This has been an amazing thing to watch. \r\n\r\nI have also noticed kids who do not normally hang out with each other bond over the game of chess. At the end of the study, we watched the movie as a class and conducted a compare and contrast analysis of the novel and the film. The students unanimously agreed that the book was much better, expressing disappointment over some important details missing from the movie.
