Because of you, our classroom has transformed into a living science laboratory where students don't just learn about life science, they experience it every day.\r\nWe are using these new resources to teach students about living systems, habitats, and responsibility. Our bearded dragon has become a daily part of our routine. Students take turns observing its behavior, checking temperature and lighting, preparing food, and recording data in science journals. Alongside this, our classroom plants are helping students understand plant growth, photosynthesis, and how living things depend on proper care to survive.\r\nOne of the most memorable moments was when the students first saw the bearded dragon in its habitat. Their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. Many immediately began asking thoughtful questions like, \"What does it eat?\" \"Why does it need a heat lamp?\" and \"How do plants help living things?\" Even students who are usually quiet became eager to participate and share observations.\r\nYour support also allowed donors to get a small glimpse into our classroom, and we are excited to share what comes next. The next steps for our students include connecting animal and plant care to our current lessons on ecosystems, energy flow, and interdependence. Students will track growth patterns in our plants, compare animal and plant needs, and create simple presentations explaining how humans can responsibly care for living organisms.\r\nBecause of you, our students are learning empathy, responsibility, and scientific thinking in a meaningful and hands-on way. This project has sparked curiosity, improved engagement, and made science come alive in our classroom.\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and investing in their learning. Your kindness has made a lasting impact that our students will carry with them far beyond this school year.","fullyFundedDate":1763704475948,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-ecosystem-classroom-exploratio/9797995/","projectTitle":"Hands-On Ecosystem: Classroom Exploration with a Bearded Dragon","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. SHARA ANDREA RECLA","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9309413_orig.jpg?crop=600,600,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695916688329","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9309413"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78766","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":39,"numTeachers":3,"percentFrplEligible":25,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":75,"percentIndigenous":12,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":78766,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Opheim School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Opheim School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/opheim-school-district-9-d/opheim-school/78766"}
