The students excitedly received the new materials, especially the graphic novels.\r\n\r\nIn eighth grade, students learn of the events leading up to the American Revolution, and we specifically talk about how these events encroached upon the Native Americans who already inhabited the area. \r\n\r\nIt is my goal that students acquire information about all perspectives (Native American Colonial, and British) and conclude for themselves the injustices and offenses taken by each side before, during, and after the Revolution. I feel most students have an incomplete perspective concerning the Native American experience. The commonly known images of a bountiful meal shared between the Wampanoag people and the colonists often lead students to think that everyone lived happily ever after.\r\n\r\nWorking in groups to read excerpts of these novels you have provided that lead to invigorating discussions has greatly enriched my students' insights into the Native American experience. \r\n\r\nI am so delighted you chose my classroom and supported my endeavor to give students a broader and more accurate picture.","fullyFundedDate":1724970092074,"projectUrl":"project/american-history-begins-with-native-amer/8694089/","projectTitle":"American History Begins with Native Americans","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Slusser","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9701079"},{"teacherId":6002659,"projectId":8845807,"letterContent":"I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for your incredibly generous donation towards the expansion of my classroom library. For example, during a recent lesson on solving for kinetic energy, students were encouraged to use calculators to solve complex equations. The standing desks have allowed students to choose their optimal learning environment. Some students, feeling restless, stood at the tall desks to maintain focus, while others worked quietly at the traditional desks. This autonomy in their learning space made them more engaged and less likely to distract others. One memorable moment came when a group of students worked together at a standing table, helping each other solve a complex equation, showing how collaborative work can thrive with the right environment.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials were first introduced, my students were excited, and their reactions were overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed relief at having the option to move around during lessons, as they often felt confined by traditional seating arrangements. The calculators were also a big hit, as they allowed students to focus more on understanding the concepts rather than getting frustrated by difficult calculations. Some students who typically struggled with math felt more confident using the calculators, leading to improved participation in class discussions and problem-solving activities. Overall, these resources have made a noticeable difference in their engagement and success.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, the next steps for my students involve applying their newfound skills to more complex scientific problems. They will continue using calculators to explore advanced concepts in both physics and chemistry, where math plays a crucial role. With the flexible seating options, students will be able to choose whether to work individually, in pairs, or as a group, depending on the task at hand. I would love to continue expanding my flexible seat options!","fullyFundedDate":1726529251070,"projectUrl":"project/tools-for-focus-and-success-in-math-sc/8777845/","projectTitle":"Tools for Focus and Success in Math & Science","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Newton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8897857"},{"teacherId":9718936,"projectId":8722821,"letterContent":"Thank you for funding my project.
