We appreciate having the Cricut sticker paper, money bags, and receipt books for all students. Our wood burner did not end up getting used at this point but it has been something in the past students have wanted so I know if will be utilized in the future.\r\n\r\nHere is a little background on the event. The project begins in the fall as students utilize foundational principles such as knowledge (what they know how to create already), freedom to choose (teacher does not tell students what to make), and passion (what are students interested in) to identify a market day business they want to pursue. Students then learn the basics of writing a business plan, identifying a target market, cost of goods, prototyping, production, and marketing/branding. All of these elements culminate in a public market day where the Seeley Lake community can shop. \r\n\r\nPrior to market day, students utilized the classroom Cricut and labels supplied by donorschoose to produce custom product labeling and other forms of branding for their businesses. In preparation for the event, I set up three stations where students rotated through learning about how to count back change, write receipts and track their sales as well as how to handle potential customer situations.\r\n\r\nAfter our market day, students learned to count their sales, balance their receipts with their cash and even create an income statement. Students report that overall this project allowed them to build confidence in so many ways as well as learn critical skills to be successful in today's world. Please accept our sincerest thanks for the donation.","fullyFundedDate":1727703745342,"projectUrl":"project/blackhawk-biz/8831442/","projectTitle":"Blackhawk Biz","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Holmes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9780859_orig.jpg?crop=2126,2126,x0,y493&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727374232344","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9780859"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78587","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":101,"numTeachers":10,"percentFrplEligible":55,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":6,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"10.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":null,"schoolId":78587,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Seeley - Swan High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Seeley - Swan High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/missoula-county-public-school-district-1/seeley-swan-high-school/78587"}
