My students are very excited to use these as they read with their 5th grade buddies and learn histories of people who are important to our history and society. Thanks to you, they will have quality supplies to experience learning as they read biographies together. This will be a wonderful opportunity for these students to share learning about the history of our nation and society. The second grade students eagerly await their chance to share this learning with their buddies in the 5th grade classroom. Last year, we wrote our own biographies, this year we are hoping to add a wax museum project using the information we have written in our biographies and knowledge we have learned from these new books. My students love it! They were so excited when they saw the new area. They were so excited to see the new little space I use in my Title room for their independent reading. This has been a great incentive for the students. We call it our alternate seating area, and we change who gets to sit there every week. If they are not doing what they are supposed to or miss using it then they no longer get it and have to earn it back. My students use it for reading independently, testing, math and reading interventions, and partner reading. It is great that the seats lay flat for easy storage. I used to use bean bags and they were so hard to store. These seats store nicely and clean up nicely. They also work perfectly for the lap tables that we have. They lamps have also been great! We keep the lights low and have the lamps on. It creates a quiet warm reading area for students. They love it and always ask to turn the lights off and turn the lamps on. \r\n This donation has had a great impact on my little classroom for my Title students. They already struggle with reading and do not find it fun. Having fun options and alternate seating has helped my students enjoy the reading activities more and they look forward to their turn to be able to sit there. We began the process of design by studying real-life examples of Native American beadwork. Students were inspired by these examples and were able to create their own geometric patterns using graph paper. \r\n\r\nWe then set up the bead looms, which proved challenging for most as a bead loom was foreign to many of the students. Each student is currently working diligently on their piece and we will have finalized projects soon!\r\n\r\nI have noticed the project has given students a sense of peace and accomplishment. They are nearly silent when working with the exception of an occasional excited outburst saying, \"I did it!\" I am happy to bring this opportunity to my students and to see the growth in their creativity and patience.","fullyFundedDate":1726433849848,"projectUrl":"project/native-american-focus-geometric-beadwor/8784963/","projectTitle":"Native American Focus: Geometric Beadwork","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Counts","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9750500"},{"teacherId":9755424,"projectId":8796367,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations and support. Everyday I have students sit in the bean bags as a seating alternative.
