Thanks to your contributions, my students had the unique and meaningful opportunity to become authors and illustrators of their very own children's books. This experience was transformative, both academically and personally, for each of them.\r\nOver the course of this project, my students gained invaluable skills in writing, creativity, and collaboration. We began on Days 1 and 2 by brainstorming ideas and watching several short videos about the steps to becoming children's book authors and illustrators. These resources fueled their enthusiasm and provided a solid foundation for the work ahead.\r\nOn Days 3 and 4, students carefully crafted outlines for their chosen storylines, ensuring their ideas were age-appropriate and engaging for young readers aged 5-6. This step allowed them to focus on creating meaningful messages and age-appropriate content.\r\nDays 5 and 6 saw them bring their visions to life as they sketched out storyboards for their books, planning everything from page layouts to character development for their 18-24 page creations.\r\nThe final three days were dedicated to writing the dialogue and narrative for their characters while illustrating their stories. The classroom was abuzz with creativity and collaboration as students worked hard to produce books they could truly be proud of.\r\nThe highlight of the entire process was sharing their finished books with the kindergarten classes in our school. Watching my students read their creations to the younger children was nothing short of magical. The 8th graders were beaming with pride as they saw their hard work come to life, and the kindergarteners were captivated by the stories and illustrations.\r\nThis project would not have been possible without your support. Your generosity gave my students an opportunity to explore their potential in ways they never imagined. It not only encouraged creativity but also fostered a love for storytelling and a deep sense of accomplishment.\r\nThank you for believing in and investing in our students. You have made a lasting impact on their educational journey.","fullyFundedDate":1725033470449,"projectUrl":"project/i-am-an-author/8701156/","projectTitle":"I Am an Author!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Christman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9705906_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y60&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734376212086","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9705906"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78810","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":128,"numTeachers":8,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":4,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":78810,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Huntley Project Junior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Huntley Project Junior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/huntley-project-school-district-24/huntley-project-junior-high-school/78810"}
