The clay and tools you gave us have turned our study of Mesopotamia from a textbook lesson into something we can really hold and feel. We recently used these materials for a project where each student made their cylinder seal. It was amazing to watch them press the tools into the clay to make their own symbols and designs. They were so focused and careful, really stepping into the shoes of an ancient writer. One student, who sometimes has a hard time remembering history facts, spent a whole class period getting the tiny details on their seal just right. This showed how much they connected with the project.\r\n\r\nThe moment we opened the boxes of clay and tools, everyone got really curious and focused. The kids immediately started touching the materials, and their faces lit up as they realized they weren't just going to talk about old artifacts—they were going to make them. The simple act of shaping the clay in their hands instantly connected them to a group of people who lived thousands of years ago. Your gift did so much more than just give us supplies; it sparked a sense of ownership and deep interest that is often hard to find in a normal classroom. They weren't just learning anymore; they were creating, and they took charge of their own learning in a way I haven't seen before.\r\n\r\nNow that they have a real, personal understanding of the materials and methods of ancient Mesopotamia, we're ready for the next part of our project. We'll be using their tablets and seals to write a short story or a historical account from the point of view of a person from that time. By doing this, they'll be using their creations to bring history to life and use what they've learned in a fun, creative way. Thank you again for making this amazing experience possible for our students.","fullyFundedDate":1755994965745,"projectUrl":"project/clay-tablet-to-the-past-help-us-make-cy/9615325/","projectTitle":"Clay Tablet to the Past: Help Us Make Cylinder Seals","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Larson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9377166_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755443855625","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9377166"},{"teacherId":6219515,"projectId":8494924,"letterContent":"Thank you again for donating to our project! My students loved the books! Before reading \"To Kill A Mockingbird\" we spent a few days learning about the Jim Crow Laws and the Great Depression so they had a better understanding of the setting. This background knowledge helped them understand the verdict of Tom's trial even though they did not agree.\r\n\r\nFor my Honor's class they re-created the trial and had a 1930 jury (all male) and a 2025 jury (male and female). The students did a great job of preparing for the trial as the judge, lawyers, witnesses, and reporters. \r\n\r\nThis book gave us an opportunity to use our debate skills and informational research and wrting skills from earlier in the year. With the Kindles, students are now able to explore texts that match their interests and reading levels, use text-to-speech features, and build vocabulary through interactive tools—all of which make reading more accessible, especially for reluctant or struggling readers.\r\n\r\nWhat excites the students most is the ability to personalize their reading experience.
