Students use the subtraction regrouping kits during math lessons, which helps them see and understand the steps in subtraction more clearly. For example, one student, who used to get frustrated with subtraction, had an \"aha\" moment using the kits and said it finally made sense. The headphones are super useful for state testing and small reading groups, helping students focus better. We've also used the post-it note easels to make colorful charts that explain key ideas in math and reading, and students love adding their own ideas to them.\r\n\r\nWhen the new materials arrived, the students were felt like it was Christmas. I let them open the boxes and have some fun moments \"unwrapping\" our new gifts. The post-it note easels are now covered with anchor charts that we've created together, and the sticky note pad is a favorite for group projects. Students have shown more interest and effort in their lessons since we started using these new tools.\r\n\r\nWe're using the materials in both math and reading projects. In math, the subtraction kits are helping students practice and eventually solve problems without them. In reading, the headphones are helping with activities like improving fluency and understanding stories. Next, we'll use the post-it note easels to make charts that summarize what students learn, and these will stay up to help them remember important ideas. These tools will keep helping students as we work on harder skills and activities.","fullyFundedDate":1726581998841,"projectUrl":"project/a-valuable-reading-and-math-resource-cla/8790695/","projectTitle":"A Valuable Reading and Math Resource Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Perkins","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9752614_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y61&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726521433110","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9752614"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78613","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":137,"numTeachers":7,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":81,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":78613,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Gardiner School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Gardiner School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/gardiner-public-schools/gardiner-school/78613"}
