We also absolutely loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! As we complete each step with a different color, they can see that long division follows a repeating pattern.\r\n\r\nWe have also been using colored pens for language activities, and they make diagramming sentences much more enjoyable and engaging. Each day, they carefully tuck them away in their book boxes to keep the pages safe and unruined.\r\n\r\nOver the years, I've noticed that more and more is added to the core curriculum. I think it's wonderful that we continue to raise expectations—my students always rise to the challenge. However, this has also made for busier days, sometimes leaving less room for innovation. I truly believe that time for out-of-the-box thinking is a necessary part of every school day. When students are encouraged to think creatively during lessons, it ignites their learning and brings them closer to developing a real passion for school.\r\n\r\nThe sketchbooks have become a tool that inspires this kind of thinking. They encourage my students to truly observe the world around them, notice what could be improved, and begin designing solutions that lead to a more efficient and thoughtful world.\r\n\r\nI've already seen so many incredible ideas sketched out.
