You can tell they take great pride in these gifts. Each day, they carefully place their markers and erasers into their pencil pouches. Recently, the Expo markers and pencils have really come in handy when learning the steps of long division. As we complete each step with a different color, they can see that long division follows a repeating pattern.\r\n\r\nWe have also been using colored pens for language activities, and they make diagramming sentences much more enjoyable and engaging. The magnetic erasers are the perfect size for their small hands, and they love knowing they'll get to take the erasers home at the end of the year!\r\n\r\nDuring the last 15 minutes of the day, I always read to the class while they enjoy free-draw time. They love using their markers to draw, and I've seen many creative ideas sketched out. I was amazed by the creativity they showed!\r\n\r\nWe had everything from seahorses and tractors to cereal boxes—just to name a few. Many students also made hearts with \"I love you\" written inside. It was such a meaningful and fun activity, and the students were so proud of their finished pieces.\r\n\r\nThey especially loved watching their creations bake in the oven—it was like magic! I remember loving that part too when I was younger. As soon as I got the new access code, I logged on to the website to find our first Breakout Challenge. I chose a team building activity that helped us learn how to look at the puzzles and enter the codes. It was titled \"A Road Trip!\" We all had a blast working through the puzzles. Also, it was awesome to see all students working together to solve the clues. My class was determined to figure out the codes and unlock the next challenge. I wish you could have been in the room. The excitement was through the roof! One student said, \"Let's do this again soon!\" I plan on running a group of four students through the Breakout challenge everyday for the rest of the year. Our next challenge will be exploring the benefits of renewable energy. This is a wonderful way to learn! I bet they will never forget it!
