The wide variety of materials you provided, including diverse papers, markers, and other art supplies, have opened up a world of artistic exploration for my students. When I first introduced the supplies, the class was absolutely overwhelmed with excitement, their eyes lighting up at the array of colors, textures, and possibilities before them.\r\n\r\n Our first project \"Creating Creative Sketchbooks was awesome. Students approached their blank pages with newfound enthusiasm, carefully selecting papers and experimenting with different artistic techniques. The sketchbooks they produced were great - thoughtful, beautiful, and deeply personal. Each student's unique artistic voice emerged through their careful selections and creative expressions, and this would not have been possible without your support.\r\n\r\n I cannot thank you enough for your incredible generosity. Your donation does more than provide art supplies; it nurtures creativity, builds confidence, and gives students a meaningful outlet for self-expression. By supporting our classroom, you are directly investing in these young artists' potential and helping them discover the joy of artistic creation. On behalf of our entire class, we are profoundly grateful for your kindness and support.","fullyFundedDate":1740377242969,"projectUrl":"project/creative-sketchbooks/9032291/","projectTitle":"Creative Sketchbooks","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tranquill","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9734149"},{"teacherId":6624828,"projectId":9228698,"letterContent":"The new books added to our classroom—ranging from the I Survived series to Theodore Boone and classics like Animal Farm and 1984—have introduced a wide range of valuable lessons and skills. The I Survived series helps younger or struggling readers build confidence through high-interest, historical content, while Theodore Boone encourages critical thinking and introduces students to legal and ethical dilemmas. Books like The Chocolate War and 1984 spark deeper discussions about authority, conformity, and power—perfect for developing analytical and discussion-based skills. These texts allow students to explore literary elements like theme, conflict, tone, and perspective in ways that feel both relevant and engaging.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading has become far more dynamic. Students gravitate to different books depending on their interests and reading levels, and the laminated book covers have helped us preserve these resources for repeated use. It's now common to see students immersed in a novel during quiet time or discussing character motives with each other during group work. Several of our young male students—who had previously been hard to reach with traditional literature—are now reading independently, especially with books like Theodore Boone and I Survived. Meanwhile, some of our more advanced readers are diving into the classics, connecting Orwell's warnings to modern-day issues. These books have created space for both enjoyment and growth, meeting students exactly where they are and pushing them forward.","fullyFundedDate":1745629009306,"projectUrl":"project/building-bridges-through-books-creating/9228698/","projectTitle":"Building Bridges Through Books: Creating an Inclusive Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6624828_orig.png?crop=408,408,x0,y54&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724187630980","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6624828"},{"teacherId":6624828,"projectId":9290229,"letterContent":"Adding the Unwanteds series to our classroom library has sparked real enthusiasm for reading. The books blend fantasy with themes of creativity, courage, and belonging—ideas that resonate strongly with my students. As they read, we explore complex character development, compare societies within the book to our own, and analyze how choices shape outcomes. The engaging storyline naturally supports vocabulary growth, comprehension, and the ability to discuss abstract concepts like justice and individuality. These texts give students a chance to build essential reading skills in a world they're excited to enter.\r\n\r\nReading time has become a favorite part of our day, especially with the addition of comfy floor seats. Students now settle into their chosen spots with a book in hand, fully engaged and focused. It's not unusual to hear quiet conversations about the plot or to see students helping each other sound out difficult words. Several students who previously saw reading as a struggle have taken off with the Unwanteds series—one even asked if we could do a classroom art project based on the magical elements of the books. Thanks to our laminator, students are now making durable bookmarks and preserving their book-based projects, which adds a sense of pride and ownership to their reading journey.","fullyFundedDate":1755692767226,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-minds-books-and-learning-too/9290229/","projectTitle":"Empowering Minds: Books and Learning Tools for Our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6624828_orig.png?crop=408,408,x0,y54&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724187630980","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6624828"},{"teacherId":6624828,"projectId":9193632,"letterContent":"The addition of The Hunger Games, sports fiction, and the Blood and Ash series has helped diversify the types of reading experiences available in my classroom—each offering unique skills and lessons. The Hunger Games has sparked powerful conversations around government control, survival, and rebellion, allowing students to analyze symbolism, conflict, and character development in a way that feels relevant and gripping. Sports-related fiction has been especially effective in engaging reluctant readers—particularly some of our boys—by connecting reading to real-life interests like football and basketball. The Blood and Ash series has appealed to older or more advanced readers, offering rich vocabulary, world-building, and opportunities to explore themes like loyalty, identity, and power.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom now looks like choice, engagement, and excitement. Students have favorite series and characters they talk about, recommend to others, and even write about in their own projects. There's a natural buzz during independent reading time, and it's been a joy to watch students who once dreaded picking up a book now racing to the shelf as soon as they walk in. Several students who struggled to connect with typical school texts have completely turned around thanks to the sports fiction options—these books gave them a reason to care about reading. Others are flying through Blood and Ash, eagerly discussing plot twists and character arcs. As students follow complex plotlines and character development, they begin to make predictions, identify themes like bravery, friendship, and identity, and connect the narratives to their own lives. These texts also provide opportunities to teach literary devices such as foreshadowing, symbolism, and point of view—all within stories they genuinely enjoy.\r\n\r\nReading in my classroom has transformed from a chore into an activity students look forward to. It's common now to see students swapping books, discussing plot twists, or asking to stay a few minutes after class to finish a chapter. One student, who had previously struggled with reading motivation, has flown through the entire Percy Jackson series and is now writing her own myth-based story. Another student, more reserved in class discussions, has come alive while talking about his favorite parts of Harry Potter and how he relates to certain characters. These books have not only improved reading levels—they've made reading personal and exciting.","fullyFundedDate":1740377242993,"projectUrl":"project/igniting-young-minds-the-power-of-readi/9055894/","projectTitle":"Igniting Young Minds: The Power of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6624828_orig.png?crop=408,408,x0,y54&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724187630980","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6624828"},{"teacherId":6624828,"projectId":8983074,"letterContent":"When the new writing materials arrived, my students were incredibly excited. Students are using the writing prompts to brainstorm unique experiences from their lives, and the new books are serving as inspiration and models for good storytelling. The writing posters provide visual cues and encouragement, helping students who sometimes struggle to get started. We're planning to compile these personal narratives into a class anthology that we'll share with the donors as a way of showing them the direct impact of their generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1733258173436,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-resource-enhancement-project/8983074/","projectTitle":"Classroom Resource Enhancement Project","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Harris","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6624828_orig.png?crop=408,408,x0,y54&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724187630980","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6624828"},{"teacherId":6624828,"projectId":8843340,"letterContent":"Books are more than just pages—they are portals to understanding, empowerment, and possibility.
