The pringles and the crackers helped give those students some snacks for the school day.\r\n\r\nI teach social emotional lessons to students K-6 grade. The books help with those lessons for when I go to classrooms. The coping skills board game I have used in my individual sessions and students like to play with it. It is a way of teaching coping skills without boring lectures. The calm strips have been handy to give out to students who struggle with anxiety.\r\n\r\nI do \"lucky ducks\" in my classes where I choose two random numbers that are associated with the students and if they follow our peer group rules, they get to have a piece of candy. So, I use the 5lb bag of candy for that, and the kids love it!\r\n\r\nI love the Little Spot books. We talked about what the food bank is and what they do for our community. Back in December, the students ran a canned food drive for the food bank, so they got to add to it on January 15th with hygiene products. We had a variety of items such as dish soap, hand soap, baby soap, shampoo, deodorant, body wipes, body wash, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, and more! The students got to put items in gallon sized zip-lock bags to create a grab and go bag for individuals or families in our community. We talked about how not only our food bank needs canned and boxed items, but hygiene items are important too and not often thought about.\r\n\r\nAfter the students created the goodie bags, we took a walk down to the food bank to stock the shelves. Afterwards, the students talked about how good they felt to help others in need. I had a parent come to me the next day telling me how her daughter talked about it at the dinner table saying how much fun she had and how she got to help others.\r\n\r\nIt was a great opportunity for fourth grade students to make an impact in our community and learn how some people struggle with buying necessary items to take care of themselves or their children.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping my students have this chance to make a difference!","fullyFundedDate":1764620728215,"projectUrl":"project/upper-elementary-students-give-back/9894512/","projectTitle":"Upper Elementary Students Give Back","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Abbie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9752184_orig.jpg?crop=3555,3555,x514,y942&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748976443301","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9752184"},{"teacherId":9748171,"projectId":9328840,"letterContent":"Thanks to the generosity of The DonorsChoose Community, this project had a profound impact on my students' learning. The materials provided helped me create a more engaging, organized, and dynamic classroom environment, which led to noticeable improvements in student participation, creativity, and academic growth.\r\n\r\n\"Where the Mountain Meets the Moon\" became a cornerstone of our reading curriculum. All 25 students received their own copy, which allowed us to read and explore the novel together as a class. Having individual copies meant that every student could read at their own pace, annotate the text, and engage in meaningful literary discussions. This not only boosted reading comprehension but also fostered a stronger love for reading across the class.\r\n\r\nThe Mr. Sketch Scented Markers were a huge hit! They were used in everything from anchor charts and posters to student-created projects. The fun scents and vibrant colors made lessons more interactive and gave students an expressive outlet during creative writing and art integration activities.\r\n\r\nWith the composition notebooks, students were able to maintain consistent, structured journals for both reading reflections and writing assignments. These notebooks became essential tools for tracking progress, developing ideas, and practicing daily writing skills.\r\n\r\nFinally, the Post-it Super Sticky Notes were a small but powerful tool. We used them for quick formative assessments, exit tickets, peer feedback, and group brainstorming sessions. Their bright colors and strong adhesive helped organize ideas visually, making collaboration easier and more effective.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, I was able to implement a richer, more student-centered approach to teaching. None of this would have been possible without the incredible support of The DonorsChoose Community. The books, and social emotional games are essential to learn in order to be successful in the classroom to learn math, reading, etc. It is important for students to learn how to be a good friend, manage emotions, be kind towards others with empathy, having gratitude, and so much more.\r\n\r\nI go into classrooms every week K-6 grade to teach about these core skills. These books have been very helpful and engaging during my lessons. After we read the books as a class, we do an activity to go with it so that the material sticks with them better. Then, I hang their projects in the hallway for others to see for a week, then they get to take it home to share with their family. I have had kids tell me, \"Mrs. Abbie, you do the most fun things when you come in here\". It makes me happy knowing that they are enjoying the reading materials as much as I do!\r\n\r\nWhen I see kids individually, I sometimes find a book that resonates with whatever they are going through. For an example, I had a freshman come in to tell me she has been struggling with anxiety. I pulled out the book \"Anxiety Survival Guide for Teens\" and we have been reading it together for some time now. She has been trying the different tools in the book and has mentioned it has been helping her.\r\n\r\nSome kids I work with learn better with hands on stuff. I have a student I see individually that struggles with a lack of empathy and friendship. The Lakeshore games have been extremely helpful because he has to answer questions with different scenarios.\r\n\r\nAgain, thank you so much for your generosity.","fullyFundedDate":1727120343188,"projectUrl":"project/the-power-of-positive-thinking/8814814/","projectTitle":"The Power of Positive Thinking","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Abbie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9752184_orig.jpg?crop=3555,3555,x514,y942&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748976443301","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9752184"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_72039","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":436,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":23,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":94,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"39.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":72039,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ennis K-12 School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ennis K-12 School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/ennis-school-district-52/ennis-k-12-school/72039"}
