They've created spreadsheets to track sales, expenditures, and profits, made signs, and set prices based on their costs. After a lesson on counting back change, they now feel very professional using a real cash register.\r\n\r\nWe even designated an accountant who inputs data, makes deposits, and shares weekly updates. The students have shown impressive responsibility, showing up for their scheduled shifts on time or finding someone to cover when they can't make it.\r\n\r\nOne of their favorite additions has been the button maker! They've created buttons that promote the positive character traits we're focusing on. They assembled the machine themselves and learned how it works. Next, we'll be working with the press, where they'll get to see their creative ideas come to life in something useful and functional.\r\n\r\nTheir enthusiasm and pride in what they've built is truly inspiring. The new atlases have many types of thematic maps. Holt. Because of your support, each student now has access to their own copy of this powerful and emotionally resonant novel in verse. The story's themes of family, responsibility, and perseverance are deeply impactful for our students, and having a personal copy allows them to engage with the text more meaningfully—annotating, reflecting, and truly connecting with Timothy's journey.\r\n\r\nWhat makes House Arrest especially powerful is its format as a novel in verse. Poetry strips the language down to its emotional core, allowing students to connect with the story on a more personal and visceral level. The brevity and rhythm of the text draw in even the most hesitant readers, while the raw, honest voice of the protagonist invites thoughtful reflection. Verse allows students to slow down, sit with the meaning of each line, and find their own voice in the silence between the words. It's a form that not only tells a story but invites students to feel it—and that emotional connection is where deep, lasting learning takes place.","fullyFundedDate":1744206355935,"projectUrl":"project/arresting-students-in-a-book/9229967/","projectTitle":"Arresting Students in a Book","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Romans","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9101201_orig.jpg?crop=420,420,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1692581062225","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/romans"},{"teacherId":9101201,"projectId":9229344,"letterContent":"On behalf of our entire class, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous contribution toward the purchase of The Call of the Wild book set.
