The boarding schools were a big eye-opener for our younger students. The younger students have only heard a little bit about the boarding schools, mostly from the discovery of the bodies found recently in the news. They have been asking more questions, which has brought me to teaching some of the stories and facts about boarding schools and bringing in Nazi camps and Asian Camps in the United States. \r\n So, learning about one aspect of history will lead us to many others.","fullyFundedDate":1728004986565,"projectUrl":"project/new-booksnative-american-books/8830643/","projectTitle":"New Books/Native American Books","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sangray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8483046"},{"teacherId":9767962,"projectId":8806267,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the donation of Art supplies for my classroom. We need to begin encouraging children with the love of reading! Putting down our devices and picking up books they've never been exposed to is wonderful. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you! The families of the children who were gifted these books also send their heartfelt thanks! We encourage the love of reading by leading by example! We were able to place a book in approximately 200 students by hosting family activities that allowed us to distribute books to all children who attended. The books you graciously provided ranged in interest, topic, and readability, so every child was able to take home a new book to read, share, and cherish!\r\nOur students, staff, and families of our small community on the Blackfeet Reservation truly appreciate the kindness you have shown us. \r\nHand to Heart, We thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1730463212389,"projectUrl":"project/for-the-love-of-reading/8830873/","projectTitle":"For the Love of Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wagner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9780705"},{"teacherId":5299335,"projectId":8788984,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our class Lego Project! When the children saw the boxes with the lego's they were so excited! They were so eager to get into them and start their building ideas, and following the project plans that came with the boxes. \r\n\r\nWe have used the legos in our native language, Blackfeet. We identify colors, the number of circles, how many blocks it takes to build different things; car, pirate ship, castle, and even a dragon! The children are learning to follow directions to build the bigger projects too. We have used the legos in our multiplication, division and even for fractions! I love the versatility the legos have! During COVID, our language classes suffered due to lack of attendance. The legos are definitely giving the children more opportunities to use their language too. \r\n\r\nMy eventual goal is to create a Lego Club. Attendance will be a requirement, which I firmly believe is a great motivator to get the students in school. After a couple of years my dream is to have a Robotic Lego Club! Can you imagine the possibilities?!? I have chosen to participate in the Noyce Foundation project for STEM Teachers and am eager to provide this exciting opportunity for our students!","fullyFundedDate":1726523067499,"projectUrl":"project/using-our-native-language-with-legos/8788984/","projectTitle":"Using our Native Language with LEGOs!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tailfeathers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5299335_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1523137989275","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5299335"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78467","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":269,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":93,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"4 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"9.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":46.2,"schoolId":78467,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Napi Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Napi Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/browning-school-district-9/napi-elementary-school/78467"}
