Hello! I want to share how your contribution to my project has impacted my students. Since receiving my project supplies, my students now have a dedicated reading space that feels calm, welcoming, and intentionally designed for learning. We use the area daily during independent reading time, small-group instruction, and Writer's Workshop. One of the first moments that stood out was during our silent reading block—students chose books from the shelves, settled onto the rug, and remained focused for longer than ever before. The space helped even reluctant readers slow down, get comfortable, and truly engage with their books.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the bookshelves and rug, their reaction was immediate excitement and disbelief. Several students commented that it felt like a real library or a place where reading \"actually feels peaceful.\" That sense of ownership and pride made a noticeable difference in how seriously they treated reading time. In addition, a lot of my students were shocked by the generous nature of donors. They could not believe that there was a whole community out there rooting for their academic success.\r\n\r\nThanks to these resources, our next steps include using the reading area for reading conferences and reflection activities tied to our current novel and writing units. Students will continue setting personal reading goals, participating in discussions, and using mentor texts from the shelves to strengthen their writing. This reading space has transformed not just how my students read, but how they see themselves—as focused, capable readers who belong in a space built just for them.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create a learning environment where students feel comfortable, confident, and excited to read every day.","fullyFundedDate":1756596976008,"projectUrl":"project/filling-the-room-with-books-and-possibil/9599326/","projectTitle":"Filling the Room with Books and Possibilities","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Tailfeathers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9707819"},{"teacherId":4774447,"projectId":8705462,"letterContent":"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution to our Social Studies classroom. Because of your support, we were able to purchase a diverse collection of books written by Indigenous authors and people of color, voices that are essential to helping our students understand the world through a broader and more inclusive lens.\r\n\r\nThese new books have already brought excitement and curiosity to our classroom. Students are engaging with stories and histories that reflect a wide range of cultures, experiences, and perspectives, many of which mirror their own or introduce them to new ways of thinking. Your donation is helping us foster empathy, critical thinking, and a deeper respect for the diversity that strengthens our communities.\r\n\r\nAs an educator, I believe that representation in learning materials is more than important, it's transformative. Your support has directly contributed to creating a learning environment where every student can see themselves in the pages they read and feel valued in the history we study together.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in the power of education and for helping us build a classroom library that honors many voices and stories.
