With your donations, we were able to purchase a wonderful collection of books including Dog Man, The Bad Guys, Magic Tree House, and many more student favorites. These new additions have sparked genuine excitement about reading—there's been a noticeable buzz in the room as students eagerly swap books, talk about their favorite characters, and draw Dog Man characters on everything! For many of our students, these books have been a gateway into developing deeper reading habits and building confidence as independent readers.\r\n\r\nBooks like Dog Man and The Bad Guys introduce students to complex storytelling techniques through humor and visual literacy, while series like Magic Tree House transport readers through time, building background knowledge in history, geography, and science. We use these texts to teach comprehension strategies, like making inferences, asking questions, and identifying themes. One student who was previously hesitant to read now rushes in each morning to find the next Dog Man book—he's even started writing his own comics inspired by the series. Another student, quiet and thoughtful, is now leading book discussions about our book group books, making insightful connections to our cross-curricular lessons. Your donations didn't just fill a shelf—they helped unlock joy, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1725850097022,"projectUrl":"project/third-grade-classroom-library/8751719/","projectTitle":"Third-Grade Classroom Library!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Addington","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6027078"},{"teacherId":9743953,"projectId":8767574,"letterContent":"I want to let you know just how much your gift has impacted my students. Now, every student in my 3rd grade class belongs to a \"Novel Group\". This used to be exclusively for the highest readers in the class because I only had 3 sets of novels which were all high level readers (Charlotte's Web, Holes, and The Fantastic Mr. Fox.) Other students in class were understandably envious of those groups because they got to read interesting and fun texts while the lower readers read leveled readers from the big text book publishers. Those \"books\" are as dry as the Sahara. Now everyone gets to read fun texts that are just right for their level. And due to your generosity, I was also able to increase the number of options for the intermediate and higher level readers in class.\r\n An elementary classroom should be a rich and stimulating environment for all students. It is essential for student growth and student interest. My classroom has become richer and more stimulating because of this gift of books.
