These books have opened the door to meaningful conversations about identity, inclusion, and empathy. They've allowed my students to see themselves in the stories they read—and to see the lives and experiences of others in a new light.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an interactive and reflective experience. We don't just read the words on the page—we ask questions, make connections, and think deeply about the characters and the lessons they're learning. These new texts have helped me introduce skills like making inferences about character motivation, understanding different points of view, and building vocabulary around emotions, culture, and inclusion.\r\n\r\nOne of my students, who is on the autism spectrum, especially loves our new books featuring neurodiverse characters. He lit up when he saw a main character who thought and felt like he does—it was a powerful reminder of why representation matters. Another student from an immigrant family proudly pointed out a book that reminded her of her own experiences at home, and it became her favorite pick during silent reading time.\r\n\r\nThanks to this project, my students are not only becoming better readers—they're also becoming more thoughtful, kind, and aware of the world around them. From the moment we unpacked them, these boards became an everyday essential in our classroom. My students were instantly more engaged and eager to participate in lessons. Whether we were practicing phonics, solving math problems, or responding to reading comprehension questions, the boards gave every student a hands-on, low-pressure way to learn and make mistakes.\r\n\r\nWe learned that learning can feel fun and exciting when you have the right tools. The boards allowed for quick checks for understanding, small group support, and even independent practice. My students loved the chance to \"show what they know\" without the fear of making a mistake—because they could simply erase and try again.\r\n\r\nThis project changed my teaching by making instruction more interactive and responsive. I was able to see student thinking in real time and adjust my lessons accordingly. It also created more opportunities for peer collaboration, quick reviews, and confidence-building moments.\r\n\r\nThank you for bringing this simple yet powerful resource into our classroom.
