Some of them even cheered quietly, saying, \"Finally!\" It's funny, but something as simple as a tissue can make a classroom feel more comfortable and cared for. Students are using them every day, keeping germs at bay and helping everyone stay healthy.\r\n\r\nBut what really touches me is how these little boxes of tissues also help students emotionally. When someone is feeling sad, frustrated, or overwhelmed, being able to grab a tissue without asking shows them they're supported. This process encourages them to take ownership of their learning while also developing leadership and communication skills.\r\n\r\nOnce their Breakout games are complete, my students will share them with other classes in the school as part of their community service learning. This step allows them to lead by example, showing their peers the value of collaboration, determination, and perseverance. It also helps them see that their hard work has an impact beyond our classroom, reinforcing the idea that leadership is about lifting others up. We tie these expectations into everything we do, from academic lessons to group work, and the STAR bucks system helps reinforce those choices in a meaningful way. By having the opportunity to earn and spend STAR bucks, students are not only motivated to complete their work and participate, but they are also learning important life skills such as responsibility, goal setting, and decision-making.\r\n\r\nAs we continue this process, the next steps for my students will be connecting these positive behaviors to their academic progress and social-emotional growth. With the addition of new incentives for our Patriot store cart, students will have exciting rewards to work toward, which keeps them engaged even during challenging times. As the school year starts. It is very important to us our students start the school year strong and have all their needs met regardless of their economic status. We welcome our students through our open door policy to discuss any barriers they may be facing in hopes to help empower them and equip them with skill sets to learn to advocate for their needs and build a trust worthing community they can go to in our school. Whether it is deodorant, a toothbrush and or laundry detergent to use to have clean clothes for the remainder of their school week. We make sure to have most of everything in our Threads of Hope closet to help our students have a strong school year and decrease their worries and or stressors they face for students to solely focus on school. \r\n\r\nOur students are always amazed by our donors and their donations. One memorable moment was during a mindfulness activity when a student shared that snack time helps them \"feel less nervous and more ready to talk.\"\r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely excited and grateful when they saw the variety of snacks available. For some, it felt like a special treat; for others, it was simply a relief to have something to eat.
