Each child now sits in their own petal-shaped seat, which gives them a personal workspace while keeping us connected in a supportive circle. I use this setup daily for articulation practice, expressive and receptive language lessons, literacy activities, and social communication groups. Because I can easily move around the circle, I'm able to give students verbal cues, tactile prompts, and visual modeling right when they need it—helping them make faster, more meaningful progress.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the table, they were amazed by the shape and immediately wanted to sit down. The design made them excited to participate, and transitions into therapy and group lessons became smoother and calmer. They practice their target sounds while looking at peers, which encourages more natural conversation and peer modeling. The table helped them feel both safe and included—and their confidence was visible.\r\n\r\nWe are currently working on collaborative language and literacy projects where students take turns sharing stories, practicing vocabulary, and giving peer feedback. The table makes it easy for students to see one another's faces, which supports social communication and listening skills. Next, we'll use the table for progress monitoring and data collection, ensuring each student's speech and language goals are tracked closely in a comfortable, distraction-free setting.\r\n\r\nBy funding this project, you helped create an inclusive, calm, and effective learning environment where every student feels seen, supported, and ready to participate. Your generosity is helping my students build confidence, strengthen their communication skills, and truly bloom.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping my students bloom!","fullyFundedDate":1767233987070,"projectUrl":"project/a-flower-shaped-table-to-help-my-student/9896522/","projectTitle":"A Flower-Shaped Table to Help My Students Bloom in Speech!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wood","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5661855_orig.png?crop=4500,4500,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1743711363670","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5661855"},{"teacherId":5661855,"projectId":9226666,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our speech therapy room now has spinning chairs that have completely changed the way my students engage in learning. When the chairs first arrived, the excitement was contagious—several students immediately asked, \"Can we try them now?\" Watching their faces light up as they sat down and discovered how fun learning could feel was a moment I'll never forget.\r\n\r\nWe are using the chairs every day to support speech and language goals. For some of my students, the ability to spin helps regulate their bodies and focus their attention so they can participate more fully. Others use the movement breaks as a reward after practicing challenging skills like word retrieval or sentence building. During one recent session, a student who usually struggles to stay motivated worked extra hard on his speech sounds just so he could earn \"spin time\" at the end. That small success was a huge step forward in his confidence.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to keep weaving the chairs into therapy activities—like turn-taking games, storytelling practice, and group discussions—so that movement and communication naturally go hand in hand. The chairs aren't just seating; they're tools that make learning joyful and accessible.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has created a space where students feel supported, energized, and excited to learn.
