It means a lot to me. It means a lot to the kids. This is my second year of teaching. My first year was rough to say the least. Last year I had a guitar teacher come in and teach the kids guitar. Due to funding issues they were not able to come to our class anymore. I had 20 guitars and nobody to teach the students. Even when I did have the guitars most of my students found it difficult to play them. They were too bulky. They had too many strings. So, I made a decision. I was going to find a way to get rid of the guitars and replace the instruments with ukuleles. \r\n\r\nThe guitars went to another school in the district and the ukuleles stayed here. I was able to introduce the ukuleles to the class and they were so excited. I found a lesson plan to teach them. This lesson plan had videos and songs. Before you knew it the students had learned their very first song on the ukulele. They were so excited. \r\n\r\nSome of my kids hate music, but they loved getting to play the ukulele. This experience has changed many of their opinions of what it means to be a musician. You have changed their world.","fullyFundedDate":1735243742675,"projectUrl":"project/make-a-joyful-noise-ukuleles-needed/8866574/","projectTitle":"Make A Joyful Noise: Ukuleles Needed","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Shelton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9798113_orig.jpg?crop=1856,1856,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728681430532","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9798113"},{"teacherId":8491243,"projectId":8358708,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations. They have gained a newer appreciation for lego building and a new respect for lego builders, especially since they are not begining builders. They have done grest putting into words what they need help on amongs one anothet as previously described, but they are also doing great with asking me for help when they can't figure it put themselves.
