We used a majority of our new books to make connections between literacy and art. \r\n\r\nReading in the art room can vary in different ways. As a class we use books to influence us in different art projects based on the artist or topic of the reading. Students also sometimes have free time towards the end of art class and pick to reread different books relating to our lessons. \r\n\r\nThere are particular students who especially enjoy reading our new books. These books help students learn about new artist and different ways to create art. We worked together to create beautiful displays of art. Students were super excited to see how we used the foam board to create 3-D displays that allowed students to engage in the art show. These materials allowed students to grow their pride and and their creativity in the art room. We plan on using the new materials again next year for our art show. Using techniques such as pinching, rolling, and shaping help improve dexterity and handwriting skills. These clay materials allow students to practice problem solving skills. Clay mistakes can be reshaped and allow for the growth of flexibility and persistence. \r\n\r\nThe students were very excited to see the new clay materials.
