Simple tasks that many people take for granted, like storing food, preparing snacks, organizing meals, making healthy choices that are meaningful milestones for my students.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, we now have a safe, reliable refrigerator right in our classroom. This has already made a difference in ways both big and small. Students can bring fresh lunches from home, keep drinks cold throughout the day, and store healthy snacks like fruit, yogurt, and salads. These small comforts help them stay focused, energized, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nEven more importantly, the refrigerator allows us to practice real-world skills every day. Students are learning how to organize food, clean up after themselves, prepare simple meals, and make healthy choices. These hands-on experiences build independence, responsibility, and confidence, skills they will carry with them for life.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, mastering these everyday routines is a huge accomplishment. The new books and resources have opened the door to lessons that inspire not just strong readers, but curious problem-solvers and creative thinkers.\r\n\r\nThrough novels like The Wild Robot and Out of My Mind, students are diving into stories that introduce robotics, problem-solving, and perseverance in ways that feel both exciting and relatable. When Roz the robot struggles to adapt to the wild, my students immediately connect that experience to the engineering challenges they see in their own STEM projects. Similarly, Melody's story in Out of My Mind has encouraged powerful conversations about resilience, inclusion, and innovation in technology to support others.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is no longer just about comprehension, it looks like collaboration, discussion, and hands-on connections. Students read, then move into small groups where they build, design, or brainstorm how STEM plays a role in the world of their book. For example, after Fish in a Tree, students created problem-solving journals to think like inventors, while The Tale of Despereaux inspired critical thinking about bravery and creativity.\r\n\r\nSome students, especially those who once struggled to stay engaged with reading, are now the ones asking if we can \"read just one more chapter.\" One student in particular, who usually avoided independent reading, became completely absorbed in Bridge to Terabithia and shared that it was the first time a book made them \"feel like they were inside another world.\" Watching that spark ignite has been one of the greatest gifts of this project.\r\n\r\nThe additional supplies, like the brown paper bags and sticker paper, have helped us organize interactive projects, making novel studies more personal and hands-on. The TPT resources have allowed me to tailor activities that bridge literacy with STEM challenges, giving students even more opportunities to connect reading with real-world problem-solving.\r\n\r\nThis project was made possible because of caring supporters like you and a special thanks goes to Young Sheldon for investing in the next generation of readers, thinkers, and innovators.
