In a middle and high school setting, the health office is often more than just a place for bandages and ice packs - it is a sanctuary. Thanks to your donation of snacks, it has also become a place where students find the fuel they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nHow the Resources are Being Used\r\n In our secondary campus, hunger is a frequent barrier to learning. We use these resources daily to support students who may have missed breakfast, those managing chronic conditions like diabetes, or students who simply haven't had enough to eat to power through a long afternoon of testing and extracurriculars.\r\n\r\n By providing a quick, nutritious snack, we are able to stabilize blood sugar levels and reduce \"hangry\" outbursts or fatigue-related office visits. Instead of sending a student home because they feel faint or distracted, we can offer a variety of snack options and get them back to class ready to learn.\r\n\r\nA Moment of Impact\r\n One specific moment stands out from last month. A high school junior came into the clinic appearing very withdrawn and complaining of a severe headache. After a quick assessment, it became clear he hadn't eaten since the previous day's lunch due to some challenges at home.\r\n\r\n When I offered him a selection of the snacks you provided, his entire demeanor shifted. He was quiet at first, but as he ate, he began to open up about his stress levels. Having that snack gave us the \"bridge\" we needed to have a meaningful conversation about his well-being. He left the office not just with a full stomach, but feeling seen and supported by his school community.\r\n\r\nStudent Reactions\r\n The students were honestly blown away! When they first saw the organized bins of snacks, one middle schooler asked, \"Are these actually for us?\" There is a certain dignity that comes with being able to offer a student a choice of a quality snack rather than just a plain cracker. Their eyes lit up, and the \"thank yous\" were immediate and heartfelt. It has created a sense of belonging and care that resonates across the campus.\r\n\r\n Thank you for investing in the health and happiness of our students. You have truly made a difference in our clinic and our classrooms.","fullyFundedDate":1763498715795,"projectUrl":"project/no-child-hungry-snack-stash-for-student/9707181/","projectTitle":"No Child Hungry: Snack Stash for Student Support","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Nurse Emily","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7840595"},{"teacherId":7320100,"projectId":9165931,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of school supplies. This resource was far more than just a subscription; it served as an immediate gateway to thousands of live theatrical performances, transforming our classroom into a virtual theatre space. This direct access proved imperative for demonstrating complex concepts like character development, blocking, technical design, and artistic concept in a visual, immediate way that textbooks could not match. Beyond the theatre department, the contribution also provided important support resources, lesson plans, and literary materials to our High School Library and English/Literature Department. By funding this virtual field trip resource, the donors ensured that hundreds of PRCHS students had equitable access to the arts, fostering their artistic development and deepening their understanding of literature and human experience for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1686088354116,"projectUrl":"project/help-send-students-to-live-theatre-digit/7238551/","projectTitle":"Help Send Students to Live Theatre Digitally","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carr","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8541110_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714152513292","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/bluemaskers"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12406","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":997,"numTeachers":52,"percentFrplEligible":67,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":2,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":60.8,"schoolId":12406,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pearl River Central High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pearl River Central High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/pearl-river-county-school-district/pearl-river-central-high-school/12406"}
