Your support has opened new doors of exploration for my students and has significantly enriched our hands-on learning experiences. Since its arrival, the microscope has become one of the most exciting tools in our classroom. We recently used it to examine fragments of Native American pottery, allowing students to observe texture patterns and mineral compositions up close—an experience that brought history and science together in a powerful way.\r\n The moment my students first saw the microscope, their faces lit up with excitement and curiosity. Many of them had never used a high-quality scientific instrument before, and their reactions ranged from wide-eyed amazement to eager anticipation to begin experimenting. Almost immediately, they began gathering samples—pond water, blades of grass, and different soil types from around our school—just to see the hidden world that exists beyond what the eye can see. Their sense of wonder has sparked deeper conversations about science, history, and the environment around them.\r\n Thanks to your kindness, my students are now preparing to take their investigations even further. Our next steps include developing a comparative study of regional soils and water sources, allowing students to analyze similarities and differences in composition and discuss how these resources shaped the daily lives of Mississippi's early inhabitants. Because of your support, our classroom is now a place where curiosity thrives, critical thinking grows, and students feel empowered to explore. We are truly grateful for your impact on our learning community.","fullyFundedDate":1758193682989,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-history-bringing-artifacts-to/9403716/","projectTitle":"Unlocking History: Bringing Artifacts to Life With a Digital Microscope","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Adcock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10052331_orig.jpg?crop=892,892,x0,y17&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1749432088615","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10052331"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12011","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1574,"numTeachers":83,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"19.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":29.4,"schoolId":12011,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about West Jones High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"West Jones High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/jones-county-school-district/west-jones-junior-senior-high-school/12011"}
