Although we have only had the projector for a short time, it has already made an exciting difference in the way I am able to engage students and share learning experiences.\r\n\r\nOne of the first opportunities I had to use the projector was completely unexpected. I was asked to teach an impromptu lesson for a group of local elementary school students. Having the projector available allowed me to quickly turn the lesson into a more visual and engaging experience. Instead of being limited to verbal explanations, I was able to display materials for the entire group and create a lesson that was interactive, accessible, and memorable. That experience immediately demonstrated just how valuable the flexibility of this projector will be.\r\n\r\nWe are also preparing to put it to use in my World Literature classroom. Students will soon complete a Hero's Journey project in which they apply the stages of the hero's journey to one of their favorite characters from literature or popular culture. They will create video essays and use the projector to present their work to their classmates. This will allow students to analyze literature while making connections to movies, television, comics, video games, and other stories they already enjoy.\r\n\r\nIn my Chinese classes, the projector will also help us display Chinese characters, cultural materials, videos, presentations, and authentic language resources more effectively.\r\n\r\nThe flexibility this technology has provided in such a short amount of time has been amazing. Whether I am teaching a planned lesson, responding to an unexpected opportunity, or giving students a platform to share their own creativity, this projector is helping transform our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and giving us a resource that will continue expanding what is possible in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1786207098578,"projectUrl":"project/bringing-lessons-to-life-with-a-smart-pr/10446802/","projectTitle":"Bringing Lessons to Life with a Smart Projector","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jones","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9470742_orig.png?crop=1169,1170,x0,y682&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714767494101","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9470742"},{"teacherId":810921,"projectId":10068331,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Since the COVID pandemic, I have incorporated the use of Chromebooks and the Canvas Learning Management System to help streamline and personalize learning in my French classroom. Each day, scholars come in, grab a Chromebook, and take a 2 question quiz reviewing the previous day's lesson, and previewing today's lesson. They take a video quiz on the topic of the day, and then I help them understand the topic by modeling the lesson on the board. They have an opportunity to practice the verbs or vocabulary that we're learning, and then they go back to the Chromebook to practice individually, and get immediate feedback and an opportunity to try again if they missed anything.\r\n\r\nTechnology in the classroom has really allowed us to individualize learning for each scholar, and give them many more opportunities for engagement and enrichment. Your generosity truly means a lot to me and to my students. Even though I have not had the chance to use the DJI Mic Mini and Soundcore headphones yet, I am already thinking about how much they will help us in the fall.\r\n\r\nRecently, my students worked on speaking, listening, recording, and video projects without having these resources, and it showed. They did their best, but it was hard for them to hear audio clearly, monitor their pronunciation, and create recordings strong enough for thoughtful feedback. Editing a video without clear audio from a microphone and without high-quality headphones was especially challenging. It made the process more frustrating than it needed to be, both for my students and for me as their teacher.\r\n\r\nThat is why I am so excited to have these tools for the upcoming semester. I can already picture my students using the microphone for dialogues, presentations, interviews, and digital storytelling projects in Mandarin. I can also see how the headphones will help them focus better during listening practice, hear tone and pronunciation more clearly, and feel more confident as they review and improve their own work.\r\n\r\nWhat I love most is that these items will not just make class easier, they will make learning more meaningful. My students will be able to create, communicate, and engage with the language in a more authentic way. They are bright, hardworking, and willing to try, even when something is difficult. With these resources, I know they will be able to do so much more.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in my students and investing in our classroom. Your support is allowing me to revamp my curriculum by shifting from mostly teacher-led practice to a model that puts students in charge of their learning through autonomous reading. With consistent access to leveled texts, I can build a structured independent reading routine—daily or weekly reading time, student choice within levels, vocabulary tracking, and brief conferences that focus on comprehension strategies instead of simple memorization.\r\n\r\nThese readers help students move from \"recognizing characters\" to actually understanding meaning in context. As students read more, they naturally strengthen grammar patterns, develop stamina, and become more confident using Mandarin without relying on constant prompts. Because we now have class sets, every student can annotate, reread, and progress at an appropriate pace, which makes differentiated instruction much more realistic.\r\n\r\nYour donation doesn't just add books to our shelves—it changes how we teach and learn. The funding of the World Music Alive with Piano Keyboards project and the provision of the resources has sparked an interesting set of interactions. From the day the boxes arrived, the scholars took interest in making music more their own expression. The smiles of personal accomplishment in playing, E.g., Italian Folk Song, Folk music from Poland, UK, Germany, Happy Birthday to You, Do Your Ears Hang Low, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Star-Spangled Banner, Shoo Fly, Sea Shanty, Carol of the Bells, Away In A Manger, Jingle Bells, We Wish You A Merry Christmas, All of Me Loves All of You, and scales, reflected for some students a greater sense of confidence.\r\n\r\nImpromptu and guided jam sessions, particularly with the use of the synthesized instrument and percussion sounds, happen frequently in keyboard classes, choir break time, and Jazz band rehearsals. Our general and special education scholars pair play and experiment with making sounds – one note, one interval, one chord at a time. The students taking Dual Credit college course in Music Appreciation all want to make music, even though it is predominantly a lecture course. Thus, including the hands-on element with these keyboards provide greater connection to sounds, pitch, dynamics, timbre, and rhythm. Students not assigned to the keyboard class pop by for a few minutes to try to play a melody from their favorite artiste on TikTok or YouTube. The recognition that they can tap out a few notes from E.g., John Legend, YoungBoy, or Beethoven informs their understanding that music is a global vehicle for communication and fun.","fullyFundedDate":1760693760267,"projectUrl":"project/world-music-alive-with-piano-keyboards/9690624/","projectTitle":"World Music Alive with Piano Keyboards","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Simpson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10244986"},{"teacherId":10196161,"projectId":9678798,"letterContent":"I am writing to share the meaningful impact that Brewing Connections: Building Community and Opportunity Over Coffee & Donuts has had on both my classroom environment and my life as a mentor.
