As explained in the initial request for funding, I'm a Dyslexia Therapist working with elementary students. All of my students have difficulty reading, writing, spelling and some struggle with speaking and communication. \r\nTheir initial reactions to the new furniture, seating and area rugs was amazement and they immediately started asking to sit in the reading area. The beanbag covers and shelving made it such a cozy spot that they couldn't wait to grab a book and read even if they had some difficulty doing so. \r\nThis was my goal. They are having more positive experiences with reading and positive attitudes towards reading with the funding from this project. Seeing this come to fruition has been a dream come true for me as an educator to special populations in my school. This will go a long way.","fullyFundedDate":1757100736794,"projectUrl":"project/motivation-for-students-with-dyslexia/9600210/","projectTitle":"Motivation for Students with Dyslexia","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hampton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10179339_orig.jpg?crop=867,867,x296,y150&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755274435425","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10179339"},{"teacherId":10179352,"projectId":9600244,"letterContent":"When we received the new resources books, a cozy classroom carpet, and cardstock paper my students and I couldn't wait to start using them. One of our favorite moments was gathering together on the new carpet during reading time. The books have quickly become classroom favorites, and the carpet has created a warm, inviting space where students feel comfortable sharing and learning together. The cardstock paper has also been put to good use for projects, crafts, and practicing writing, giving students a chance to be creative while reinforcing important skills. These items have truly made our classroom feel brighter and more engaging.\r\n\r\nThe very first day the materials arrived, my students' faces lit up with excitement. They rushed over to explore the books and immediately asked if we could read together on the new carpet. Their joy and enthusiasm showed just how much of a difference these resources make. As we move forward, our next steps include continuing to build a strong reading community, creating more hands-on projects with the cardstock paper, and using our new learning space for group activities. Thanks to your support, my students not only have the tools they need to grow academically but also a space where they feel inspired to learn every day.","fullyFundedDate":1757100671821,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-bloom/9600244/","projectTitle":"Help us BLOOM!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McMullen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10179352_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y674&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755265789145","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10179352"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16631","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":483,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":40,"percentWhite":48,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 2","studentTeacherRatio":"17.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":77.8,"schoolId":16631,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Houston Lower Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Houston Lower Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/mississippi/chickasaw-county-consolidated-school-district/houston-lower-elementary-school/16631"}
