With this new technology in our STEAM class, elementary students from grades K-5 are learning what it means to design new ideas and see them come to life. \r\nThe youngest STEAM learners are introduced to design software and customizing products, especially ones they can use and have fun with, like bubble wands and ID tags. Older learners look at the world from a problem-solving standpoint and study the impact that their ideas for change can have by creating inventions and modifications for good, like refittings for prosthetics or handicapped accessible recess equipment models.\r\nWe are so grateful for the chance to try 3D printing, not only to learn, but also to have fun: we've designed trophies for a school PBIS event and bookmarks for the library. Students feel like they're making an impact while being on the cutting edge, knowing their caregivers also print in the \"real world.\" \r\nWithout the printer, the software fell flat, and these kids now feel seen, knowing that they deserve technology that will move them into the future, thanks to donors like you.","fullyFundedDate":1755999257009,"projectUrl":"project/heating-up-steam/9601039/","projectTitle":"Heating up STEAM!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lundeen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4884614_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y1008&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1599244026504","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4884614"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75861","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":608,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":46,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":78,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":86.9,"schoolId":75861,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Montgomery Elementary-Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Montgomery Elementary-Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/tri-city-united-public-schools-independent-school-district-2905/montgomery-lonsdale-middle-school/75861"}
