Every time a student ok l enters my classroom for the first time, they say how comfortable, peaceful, fly and cool OUR room is. Yes, this room belongs to US and it would not exist if not for you. \r\n\r\nAlso I want to give a special shout out to, Out Front Charitable Fund, the organization that matched every donation so we were able to reach our goal in less than a week. They specifically supported math and science classrooms like ours knowing the importance it l of young people having access to this technology centered world but knowing their math and science.\r\n\r\nMy main goal was to have a room where students' nervous system could relax so that they would be able to focus on learning the often anxiety ridden math class. That was the exact result. I have students who improved so much in my classroom while resting on the bean bags, students choose essential oils for the humidifier that helped them focus on graphing functions, students select led lighting to get the energy to finish quizzes and, most importantly, students gather as community on the couch and I'm the ambiance playing Uno during lunch allowing us to connect with classmates who would help with solving equations later. \r\n\r\nA space is not just a space . It communicates love, order and protection. I am so grateful to be apart of a community that cares any the well being of our young people. During my music production classes, and even before and after our academic time, students have been coming in and producing music, recording raps, and writing songs.
