Many of my students gravitate to the fidgets. One boy used one the entire time we met about his academic schedule and said it was his most productive meeting ever because he could focus. Thanks to your generosity I can allow students to take fidgets with them to use in class. Before I was so limited in number they had to stay in my office and be used only when students met with me. Some students have said my office now has a fun, \"Disney\" vibe.\r\n\r\nThe resources on ADHD and anxiety are also invaluable to me as I work to help students be more successful in school. It has been really fun to bring the classroom to life by bringing in new ideas from the books your donation helped fund! The posters have brightened up and made the atmosphere of the classroom more welcoming. They also offer a handy tool for looking at key early civilizations and different systems of government. \r\n\r\nI have loved getting fresh ideas from the various books that I've received. I have implemented a few new activities with my 9th grade World History class from the book Hands-on History: World History Activities. With the lesson Europe in the Middle Ages, students got to act out the different roles of Medieval feudal society. I think these lively activities, which bring students into the time period we are studying, bring history to life and help students connect with the concepts in a fun way. \r\n\r\nI have really enjoyed reading and gathering lesson ideas from Teaching World History Thematically. Breaking history into key concepts such as forms of government, belief systems, and equality vs. hierarchy are aspects that students are drawn to and often have strong beliefs on. I love these lessons that see history through an inquiry-based approach and provide students with the opportunity for document-based analysis. My 11th grade world history students enjoyed the lesson titled \"How Did Christians Justify the Crusades?\" It allowed students to see the powerful role of the church in European society and made connections to the world we live in today. \r\n\r\nMy goal is not to just have students memorize facts. A professor once told me, rarely are we in a history emergency where we need to recall a fact from the past to get out of a bind. It is the skills of working critically with different sources, staying curious and making deep connections that make history so essential to understanding ourselves and the world. These resources have provided me with a wealth of great ideas for helping students develop these necessary historical thinking skills. My students and I thank you!","fullyFundedDate":1730298047653,"projectUrl":"project/ms-raineys-world-history-class/8896671/","projectTitle":"Ms. Rainey's World History Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rainey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9812452_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1729712437794","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9812452"},{"teacherId":9785263,"projectId":8842897,"letterContent":"I am so happy to be able to offer diverse books for my students that they are truly interested in reading.
