Lat year the Middle School Multi-Lingual (MS, ML) Teacher presented me with a request for meaningful materials to support her students as they developed reading skills. She wanted to be able to host a book study that could meet the needs of a variety of skill levels for the middle school children. As we brainstormed, we thought if we could also combine this with historical events would be amazing, build language skills while reinforcing history. These materials also allowed for ML student teachers to provide a virtual lesson. These student teachers live a distance from our school. They could obtain the reading materials at the library in their town, several miles away, and connect with our students with meaningful lessons and discussions.\r\n\r\nThe ML Teacher, Tamara, shared her thoughts in the following letter.\r\n\r\n\"To Whom it may Concern,\r\nI am writing this impact letter to express the meaningful effect that the donated books have had on our students and their learning experience. The books that were donated included two sets (English and Spanish) of \"I Survived the Sinking of the Titanic, 1912\". These texts became a valuable tool in supporting both literacy development and language growth within our classroom.\r\n\r\nWith these materials, students were able to participate in a bilingual book study, engaging with the story both in English and Spanish. They listened to the book in each language, which reinforced comprehension, improved vocabulary, and supported the Natural process of language acquisition. This approach made the content more accessible and allowed all students, especially English learners, to understand the material deeply while strengthening their skills in both languages.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this opportunity extends far beyond a single unit of study. Giving students access to high-quality, engaging literature in two languages fosters confidence, promotes academic success, and encourages a lifelong love of reading. These donations enriched our instruction, supported equitable access to learning and created meaningful educational experiences that students would not have otherwise. \r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity and for supporting our student's growth. Your contribution made a direct and important difference in the learning journey, and we are truly grateful.\r\nSincerely,\r\nTamara A. Your kindness and commitment to education have opened the door to incredible opportunities for my students, and we are beyond grateful.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment we unboxed the Glowforge, the energy in the room completely shifted. The students were buzzing with excitement, brimming with ideas, and ready to bring their imaginations to life. This tool has already sparked a wave of creativity and curiosity that I know will only continue to grow.\r\n\r\nWith the Glowforge, my students now have access to a level of hands-on learning that was previously out of reach. They'll be designing and cutting custom projects, prototyping inventions, and even integrating art and engineering in ways that feel like real-world applications. Whether it's creating personalized keychains, architectural models, or laser-engraved artwork, they are developing not only technical and design skills but also critical thinking, collaboration, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and for making our classroom a place where big dreams and bold ideas can come to life.
