The moment they step in the room knowing that they would be doing a lab activity, they would readily grab a coat and wear it. \r\nBy letting the students wear a lab coat, they now become more aware of how PPE can help protect them from injuries. They now understand why do they have to wear a lab coat not because they made them feel like a true scientist but also how this could help save their lives. I explained to them that they really need to wear the PPE for their protection especially for the girls who wears loose clothing and hijab which can get through the materials and chemicals which can harm them and cause accidents.","fullyFundedDate":1748646911686,"projectUrl":"project/lab-coats-on/9361306/","projectTitle":"Lab Coats On!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Melanie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9636014_orig.jpg?crop=600,600,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747496472898","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9636014"},{"teacherId":9636014,"projectId":9389259,"letterContent":"The students were now able to do hands on activities in my Robotics Club. While many of you may be familiar with technology in your homes, using it in school creates new opportunities for collaboration, research, and creativity. With this tool, my students can now explore interactive science simulations, work on digital presentations, and access resources that go far beyond the limits of our textbooks. It has become a gateway for them to connect their learning to the real world in ways that feel engaging and meaningful.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is the chance to take ownership of their learning through technology. They love using the MacBook Air to design projects that allow them to showcase their knowledge with creativity—whether that's building slideshows, editing videos, or conducting research for group investigations. For some of my students who previously felt shy about participating in class discussions, this technology gives them the confidence to share their ideas in new formats and be proud of their work.\r\n\r\nOne student in particular has been especially inspired by the MacBook. She discovered new science apps and tools that sparked her curiosity about coding and data analysis, something she had never shown interest in before. Seeing her excitement grow has been such a powerful reminder of how a single resource can open doors and inspire future possibilities. This would not have been possible without your kindness and support.","fullyFundedDate":1756782473581,"projectUrl":"project/empowering-students-with-technology-for/9635225/","projectTitle":"Empowering Students With Technology for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Monica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10032325"},{"teacherId":9528113,"projectId":8375133,"letterContent":"First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all the donors who unselfishly share their blessing to make this project realize and a success one. Visual aids such as maps, handouts, graphics/charts contribute 200% of learning in a classroom and using colored visuals increases the willingness to read by 80%. Also, 40% of the students respond to visual information than text alone. With this, I came up with a project that would benefit my students. \r\nI am Melanie Samudio, an Exchange Cultural Teacher from the Philippines. I teach Chemistry at Ubah Academy. Ubah Academy is a Charter School that is populated mostly by Somalian-American students most of them coming from Minneapolis. Many of the students are bilinguals and some are considered ELL students who has limited knowledge in written and spoken English. \r\nThe students are used to having black and white printed worksheets in all subjects. Chemistry is one of the subjects which has so many technical terms and most of the time hated by the students not only because of scientific terms but also because of the mathematics that go with it. Knowing the fact that some are ELL students who have difficulty understanding English instruction, that adds to the challenge. That is why providing them with colored printed handout would be a great help for them to understand the topic aside from other visuals such as video clips and simulation activities. \r\nUpon receiving the colored printed handouts, they were so amazed and were eager to use it specifically the Periodic Table because they saw how the elements were colored-coded according to the element's group. Knowing how complex the Periodic table is, they were able to appreciate how the elements are arranged upon seeing the colored handout. We do have a huge Periodic table displayed in the classroom however it is not as colorful as what was given to them. Also, they were able to identify the periodic trends easily using the colored arrows in the periodic table. they were able to easily identify which element is which in terms of its characteristics using the periodic trend handout given. I also asked them to paste these handouts in their notebooks which made them realized the importance of taking down notes in studying which is not so evident in this generation with the advent of technology. Writing down the answers using handouts given made retention better than typing it on documents. They have also written some notes on the worksheets which led to better understanding and retention. They really appreciated the colored worksheets because it made them feel special by providing them such colored handouts. \r\n\r\nWith this, on behalf of my students, I would like to thank you donors for the colored printer that you have provided to our school. I am hoping that there will be more projects that will be sponsored through this organization to help teachers help students learn more and achieve their full potential.
