You have supplied us with some much needed resources for social-emotional breaks, creative outlets, phonics games, and supplies that support their individualized education programs. \r\n\r\nIt was very exciting for my students to receive your packages and I was moved by the amount of gratitude they expressed. They especially enjoyed making snowflake sun catchers for our classroom. Making sun catchers is something we have been doing seasonally and it's amazing the conversations we will have while creating. Art therapy really works and has allowed me to get to know my students at a deeper level. The sun catchers also help the resource room feel more like their own space and not a place they feel stigmatized for having to go. \r\n\r\nThe phonics games have been more popular than I expected. Students ask to play them regularly and are growing daily in their decoding skills. Because my students are older but reading at lower levels it's so important to have instruction that is tailored to their cognitive levels. My students are intelligent humans and their feelings are at the utmost importance to me. I do not want them to feel like they are doing \"baby\" work and games help me make decoding feel fun. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous donations. You have made an enormous impact on my ability to teach and my students's ability to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1668980874237,"projectUrl":"project/access-to-creative-and-tested-lessons/7010028/","projectTitle":"Access to Creative and Tested Lessons","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Walquist","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8697744_orig.jpg?crop=1058,1058,x146,y362&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1667527943620","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8697744"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125593","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":74,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":91,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.9,"schoolId":125593,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Horizon Science Academy Twin Cities on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Horizon Science Academy Twin Cities ","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minnesota-department-of-education/horizon-science-academy-twin-cities/125593"}
