With your generosity, I was able to purchase many high-interest series for both my younger and older students. \r\n\r\nThe Pinkalicious books, Grumpy Monkey books and How to Catch books have been flying off of the shelves. I wish you were able to see the huge smiles when students spot these loved characters. As you probably know, getting young students excited about books is the first step to building literacy skills. My students are well on their way to viewing themselves as capable readers. \r\n\r\nMy older students have been eager to check out the new Max Meow series, as well as, some of the other graphic novels we were missing from our collection, such as Baby-Sitter's Little Sisters and Housecat Trouble. We were especially excited to get the Mimi graphic novel series with a main character who is a person of color. It's so important that my students see representation in the books they read. This helps them know their worth and also hooks them as readers because the books are meaningful to them. Thank you for the difference you have made!","fullyFundedDate":1764645748132,"projectUrl":"project/books-to-hook-readers/9781637/","projectTitle":"Books to Hook Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sheri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8091921_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732721788098","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8091921"},{"teacherId":8091921,"projectId":9835057,"letterContent":"You have greatly impacted my students this winter with your generous donations! \r\nMy readers can, at times, get overwhelmed by too much text on a page. However, they are building their literacy skills with the cookbooks, how-to-draw books, and world record books we have been able to purchase. These books are exciting and engaging for them and just the right amount of text. I firmly believe all reading is good reading and my students are benefiting because of your gift. \r\nI can tell you with confidence that the cook books are currently the most requested books in our library! Now that I've been able to add so many to our collection, I'm always able to put a book in their hands and never have to say, 'I'm sorry they are all checked out'.","fullyFundedDate":1764720954562,"projectUrl":"project/books-for-engagement/9835057/","projectTitle":"Books for Engagement","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sheri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8091921_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732721788098","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8091921"},{"teacherId":10075539,"projectId":9456118,"letterContent":"My students and I sincerely thank you for your enormously generous contributions to our classroom. Because of your donations and efforts, our classroom has become a more inclusive and responsive place. More comfortable seating at the rug, our group learning space, has resulted in students actively participating more meaningfully in our academic groups. Students who were previously inconsistently joining their peers for group times are now gradually spending more time at group rug, which means more collaborative learning, sharing, and growing is taking place. \r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our break space has become cozier and better suited to serve students when they are seeking sensory support and regulation. The bean bag chair is used every minute of every day. The larger impact of a better furnished break space is that students are now increasingly regulated in the classroom, resulting in more learning, more joy, and more progress towards IEP goals.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has powerfully and positively impacted the school experiences of 10 amazing young people. While many students love to come to the library and find a new adventure between the pages, some students are more reluctant or unsure about a space full of books, not knowing if there's something for them. Adding some different types of books, and those cool floor tiles have enticed all of our readers!\r\n\r\nWith your donations we were able to purchase some I Spy, Where's Waldo and How-to-Draw books for our nonfiction shelves. However, this spot on the shelf has been pretty empty since the books arrived because students are so excited to check them out. Most of my students hadn't been exposed to these types of books before and they are absolutely in love with them. Several of the Where's Waldo books have holds on them as students eagerly await their turn to check them out! Not all students are natural readers, so these books have motivated them to get excited about a book.\r\n\r\nEach and every student (and adult) walking into our library the first day I put out the sensory floor tiles stopped, stared and commented on the magical entrance! Our learners and teachers love the bright colors, welcoming vibe, and joy these simple floor tiles bring. I am the luckiest to watch the smiles on everyone's faces as they enter our library!","fullyFundedDate":1733498458965,"projectUrl":"project/the-school-library-is-a-fun-place-to-be/8976594/","projectTitle":"The School Library is A Fun Place To Be!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sheri","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8091921_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1732721788098","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8091921"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69290","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":196,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":60,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":15,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.7,"schoolId":69290,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pratt Community School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pratt Community School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minneapolis-public-schools/pratt-elementary-school/69290"}
