The chair storage pockets have dramatically reduced clutter, helping students keep track of their materials and transition smoothly between activities. Double‑sided tape has kept our posters, schedules, and instructional charts securely displayed, ensuring students always have clear visual references to support their learning. The electric pencil sharpener has been a game‑changer—students can quickly sharpen pencils without mess or disruption, keeping our lessons flowing.\r\n\r\nThe sand timers have introduced a visual and concrete way for students to manage their time, especially during centers and transitions, which has strengthened their independence and self‑regulation from time to time. Our new fluorescent light covers have softened the lighting in the room, creating a calmer, more focused atmosphere that helps students stay grounded throughout the day. UNO and Connect 4 have become instant favorites, encouraging teamwork, strategic thinking, and positive social interactions during indoor recess and brain breaks. Chalk markers have allowed me to create bold, interactive visuals that make lessons more dynamic and accessible. Finally, the additional storage solutions have helped streamline daily routines, reducing lost materials and maximizing instructional time.\r\n\r\nThese resources have truly transformed our classroom environment and daily learning experience. The writing reference wall, flexible floor seats, and lap desks are now used daily to help students take ownership of their learning, strengthen their writing skills, and work in spaces that best support their focus. These resources have also reduced safety hazards by replacing makeshift seating choices and have encouraged greater autonomy as students independently select tools and spaces that help them do their best work.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened during a writing workshop when a student who often struggles to begin assignments quietly moved to a floor seat with a lap desk, glanced at the writing reference wall, and confidently said, \"I know what to do now.\" That simple shift—choosing a comfortable spot and using the reference wall independently—captured exactly how these materials are transforming our classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen the flexible seating first arrived, the excitement was immediate. Students eagerly explored each option, amazed that they could choose where and how to sit while still staying productive. The room now feels more welcoming, more intentional, and more reflective of their needs.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current writing unit, students are moving from drafting to revising and publishing their pieces. Their next steps include using the reference wall to refine word choice and sentence structure while using the flexible seating to stay focused and engaged throughout the writing process. Your support has made these meaningful learning moments possible, and we are deeply grateful for the positive impact you've had on our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1746786991115,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-options-and-writingref/9032197/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating Options and Writing/Reference Wall","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shah","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9549572_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735449279821","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9549572"},{"teacherId":7997674,"projectId":9774432,"letterContent":"On behalf of the students in HIA sped DCD class, I want to express my deepest gratitude for your recent donation of snacks, cleaning supplies, and sensory tools. While these may seem like \"everyday\" items, in a busy classroom, they are the essential gears that keep our learning environment running smoothly and inclusively.\r\n\r\nSnacks- Your donation ensures that every child has the fuel they need to participate in afternoon lessons without the distraction of food insecurity.\r\nSensory Toys-From fidgets to tactile toys, these items help students regulate their emotions and stay grounded during high-stress transitions or intensive focus periods.\r\nCleaning Materials-having a steady supply of wipes and sanitizers allows us to maintain a safe, germ-free space, reducing absences and teaching students the importance of caring for their shared environment.\r\nYour support does more than just fill our cabinets; it tells my students that their community cares about their well-being and their education. These resources have already become an essential part of our daily learning.\r\nThe magnetic tape strips have allowed us to create clear, colorful lines on our whiteboard for graphing, number lines, and organizing group work.\r\nThe place value set has been a game-changer in helping students visualize numbers. During math centers, students build and compare numbers using the magnetic base ten blocks. The fraction tiles and circles are being used in small groups to explore equivalent fractions. Students love arranging the pieces to see how different fractions fit together. These magnetic resources also are visual reference for us. \r\nThe chalk and erasers are used in all subject areas as our primary work surface is the chalk board in class, where students come up to solve problems and then clean the board themselves—building responsibility and pride in their work. Colorful chalk is a surprisingly powerful teaching tool because it turns the chalkboard into a visual organizer rather than just a writing surface. I highlight, distinguish, circle, underline, color code with different colors. Magnetic hooks have been useful to display charts and to gold led calming lights onto ceiling. \r\nWe are currently working on a fractions and decimals unit, and the fraction tiles will continue to be central to our lessons. Students will soon use the tiles to compare fractions and connect them to decimal values. With the magnetic tape, we plan to create a large classroom number line where students can place fractions and decimals to see their relationships visually.\r\nYour donation has not only provided materials but has sparked curiosity, collaboration, and confidence in our learners. These tools will continue to support our math journey throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1735698109591,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-essentials/8921501/","projectTitle":"Classroom Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shah","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9549572_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735449279821","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9549572"},{"teacherId":9975715,"projectId":9207512,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for giving to my project for costumes for our first-ever dance show at HIA! Our students were so excited when I revealed their costumes to them. Some classes kept asking if they could practice with their costume piece every day!\r\n\r\nOn the day of the show, it was wonderful to see the students in their costume pieces. It made the show look a lot more put-together and professional. We had kindergarteners in a ballroom-inspired piece wearing bow ties, second and third graders dancing to Johnny Be Goode while wearing captain hats in honor of Chuck Berry, and fifth graders in hats and tshirts they had painted themselves. It was easy for the parents and teachers to keep track of which class was which, since they were all wearing something slightly different. And, of course, it made the students feel more significant and important in their dancing! Even the students who were skeptical about participating were excited to perform in their costumes.\r\n\r\nAfter the show, I carefully organized all the materials and stored them in my classroom. I intend to have a dance show every year with the students so that it becomes a tradition. (Indeed, the date has already been set for \"Dance Extravaganza 2: Electric Boogaloo!\") The costume pieces purchased through this project will be reused in future years so that we can continue to provide our students with the excitement of having costuming for performances.
