Our students were so excited when I revealed their costumes to them. Some classes kept asking if they could practice with their costume piece every day!\r\n\r\nOn the day of the show, it was wonderful to see the students in their costume pieces. It made the show look a lot more put-together and professional. We had kindergarteners in a ballroom-inspired piece wearing bow ties, second and third graders dancing to Johnny Be Goode while wearing captain hats in honor of Chuck Berry, and fifth graders in hats and tshirts they had painted themselves. It was easy for the parents and teachers to keep track of which class was which, since they were all wearing something slightly different. And, of course, it made the students feel more significant and important in their dancing! Even the students who were skeptical about participating were excited to perform in their costumes.\r\n\r\nAfter the show, I carefully organized all the materials and stored them in my classroom. I intend to have a dance show every year with the students so that it becomes a tradition. (Indeed, the date has already been set for \"Dance Extravaganza 2: Electric Boogaloo!\") The costume pieces purchased through this project will be reused in future years so that we can continue to provide our students with the excitement of having costuming for performances. Thank you so much for the support you have provided to our dance program at HIA. Your gifts will be cherished for years to come, creating the new generation of dancers!","fullyFundedDate":1742932733033,"projectUrl":"project/our-first-dance-costumes/9207512/","projectTitle":"Our First Dance Costumes!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Finnegan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9975715_orig.png?crop=920,920,x0,y110&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742855958269","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9975715"},{"teacherId":9549572,"projectId":8870504,"letterContent":"On behalf of my students and myself, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of classroom resources. The items you provided—Magnetic Notebook Paper, X-ACTO Pencil Sharpener, the Learning Resources Magnetic Time Activity Set, the Secura 7.5 Inch Visual Timer, and the Lakeshore Magnetic Base 10 Set, among others—have already begun to make a remarkable impact on our learning in the classroom.\r\nThe Magnetic Notebook Paper has been a huge hit, making it easier for students to collect Number Corner monthly data. The data stays on the wall for the reference. The Magnetic Sentence Strips and Dry Erase Writing Strips are allowing them to practice sentence formation and structure, improving their writing skills while having fun in the process. The oversized visual timer is especially helpful for both young learners and those needing additional support with time management. The timer is fostering independence and allowing students to stay engaged and focused during lessons and activities. The magnetic clock and the base ten blocks has been the most used resource as they make learning visual and hands on. It helps my kinesthetic learners as well. \r\nAdditionally, the X-ACTO Pencil Sharpener is keeping our materials organized and running smoothly, and the Lakeshore Magnetic Base 10 Set is supporting foundational math concepts in an interactive, tactile way. All of these tools together create a rich, stimulating environment where students are eager to learn and grow.\r\nYour donation is not only enhancing their educational experience but also helping build confidence and skills they will carry with them throughout their academic journey. It is donors like you who make a lasting difference in the lives of students, and I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support.","fullyFundedDate":1730220272503,"projectUrl":"project/math-essentials/8870504/","projectTitle":"Math Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shah","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9549572_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1735449279821","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9549572"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_93934","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":250,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":38,"percentBlack":30,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":12,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"5.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.2,"schoolId":93934,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hmong International Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hmong International Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/minnesota/minneapolis-public-schools/hmong-international-academy/93934"}
